Walking around Ikea??

No idea why fools on here think going out for a drink means you have to pay for sex?? But it's ok i get it you have no friedns and just use this to justify never having a beer outside of home, or not sitting outside a 7-11.

What a weird bunch on here.

I'm not much of a drinker anyway. I occasionally have a beer with dinner but that's about it. I don't like going out just to have a drink and get drunk

Nothing weird about it

  • The completion of the new transit link from Bang Sue/Tha Poon certainly makes the Nontaburi area a more convenient place to live.  Not yet as  over-developed as other areas of Bangkok have become, tho

Fine, but why suggest that folk that do like a beer from time to time means that they are also looking to 'hire' an uneducated Isaaan girl?

Nothing like a bit of generalising is there. How about you stop looking down your nose at people who have friends and enjoy a beer with said friends and you carry on enjoying your 'nights out' with your wife eating noodles.

Why Bangkok at first ? Who not completely insane can CHOOSE to live in Bangkok ?

The only idiot millionaire that I know who still live in Bangkok are Thai. Too complicated for them to understand that their kids life would be better near the beach...

Bangkok used to be great but has been ruined now. As for beaches..I live 5 minutes from one but never go there...too much sand. Does the OP have kids?

No kids yet, just a wife. Probably a few years before I have any kids

never mind.. ill give up those that need alcohol to have fun can't be reasoned with.

Saraburi. Only 1 hour north of Bangkok. Can take a train into Hualampong if you need to visit Bangkok. Nice scenery around the town and all the large malls.

What large malls are in Saraburi?

I assume you don't know many wealthy people then...and what wonderful place is it that you reside?

They’re not really malls now, are they?

If you live in the boonies anything bigger than a 7/11 is a mall !!

But I know what you mean.  Robinsons is a Mall though with lots of franchise outlets and two floors. Not on the scale of Westgate or future park but good enough

When Westgate opened I went there a few time but didn't like it. OK for getting a big air con walking circuit but nothing interesting to buy. Prefer Pantip Plaza Ngam Wong Wahn  which has a lot of interesting stuff .

The good thing about Saraburi is that if you are really hankering for the big Mall experience , both Westgate and Future Park are just an hour and 10 minutes drive away.

Its what you implied, come on if you have to drink in front of a 711 you really went native.

Anyway I can accept that people are different you don't seem to be able to do so. We all got different priorities.

You can accept people are different yet come out with this beauty  ''ill give up those that need alcohol to have fun can't be reasoned with'' that was what I was referring to when I said that I/no-one said they need booze to have fun. Give it up.

Ill put it down to misunderstanding on my side, but you were the one that seemed to have trouble with people who don't need the bar scene or like a wide variety of shops being available.  Like i said i just accept that everyone is different.

Not if you like Pattaya or the beach life; if you want the semblance of a normal existence, Nonthanburi can give it to you. Pretty boring though, it has to be said. Still, the exciting places are in striking distance, if you're that way inclined. Personally, just knowing they're there is enough for me, a bit like when I lived in Brighton, never went to the beach.

The thing is , ' exciting ' is a pretty subjective adjective. Some people will find the world cup exciting others won't want to see a ball kicked. Some are attracted to crowds of people, others like things nice and peaceful.

Agree totally, find football pretty boring myself apart from the odd match here and there, loved playing it though. Bane of my life, living through boring football matches. Trying to be one of the boys.

I live already 10 years in Muang Thong Thani. Its the best place to stay in Thailand. I stay in a 85m2 European style appartment on the 5th floor there are 2 tenniscourts and a swimmigpool Top security and I pay 13500 Baht rent including maintenane and service fees . You need more than one year to try out all the restaurants, all  the mayor supermarkets , Makro  amd Central shoppingmall in a range of 3 km.  And of thos year Max Vaue will open a 3000 m2,  24/7 open supermarket. Numerous public transport  to downtown bangkok. No barscens to speak of but a few very nice places to spemd a evening.  And you have Impact the biggest Fair and eventhall   in Thailand. Next month  Celine Dion is comming here.

Celine is a negative

Used to enjoy the city. Now it's just a massive grid locked shopping mall.

Or maybe I'm just getting old and boring.

Why are you on here then? You should be hanging out with your 300 friends drinking beer.

Everyone on here seems to be the same. Basically tragic.

What makes you think like that ?

I doubt it I think there are far more party animals then exceptions like me who like to stay in shape workout a lot don't drink alcohol. I am quite sure I am a minority. Just on this thread you found a few like minded. For me shops are important as i keep to a healthy diet (because of the exercising) and I like computer stuff so I will always want to live near some shops. Other people especially when you first come here are different. Embrace everything Thai and love the bar scene. For most the novelty wears of.

I only like the city because it has so many shops and stuff.. makes buying the right foods easier.

Then why are you here then?

If drinking is your life then good luck with that.

No need to buy unless your anchored to a local job or have family roots in the area.

I walked led into a karaoke in bkk by accident and a ladyboy on stage peed in my beer

Dick Cramp has a great point. Unless you have a compelling reason to buy, it's generally safer to rent. Buying condos here is a questionable investment decision.

One thing nobody has mentioned is the crime. I've read the crime in these Bangkok suburbs (Nonthaburi, Pathumthani) can be worse than in Bangkok.
