simon43 Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 I want to buy a large external, touchscreen computer display, size at least 32 inches, hopefully more. These displays seem rather expensive. Can anyone suggest a value-for-money brand/model and where to purchase it (either in-store or online)?
carlyai Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 Not too sure what you want it for, but a product called 'smart board' is an interactive whiteboard. When I looked after a middle and high school, I set up these boards for each classroom. When they're set up correctly they are a magic device. You require a projector and whiteboard connected to your computer.Sent from my SM-J700F using Tapatalk
simon43 Posted August 1, 2018 Author Posted August 1, 2018 Hi Carlyai, no what I need is for online teaching. I already teach Chinese and Vietnamese students online from my base in Myanmar during my local evening and weekend time. However, the pay rates for experienced online teachers is now so good that I can give up my daytime, in-class teaching at the international school and teach full-time (or whatever hours I wish) during my local weekday daytime. I plan to transform my current 'classroom' into a professional-quality online classroom. The large, touchscreen monitors will be positioned just out of webcam view, either side of where I stand in front of the backdrop green screen. One monitor will display the classroom application which I can easily control tapping on the touchscreen. In a similar manner, the second monitor will display the Sparkocam application, which superimposes whatever background image, cartoon or video that's relevant to the lesson on the green screen behind me. With this type of arrangement, I can be physically active in my lessons for my young students (jumping, dancing or whatever), and be able to effortlessly control the classroom applications etc, without having to peer down at my small laptop screen ?
carlyai Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 Hi simon43 you can do all that and more with the smartboard.I can't remember all examples but you can now probably set these up so that a student in China can interact with the smartboard in your room. Example would be a Doulch list with letters missing in your room and the China student inputs the missing letters.Example: I was teaching the Adobe products from my interactive keyboard, interactive mouse and touch screen whiteboard. All the students had Adobe set up on their laptops with all the files we were going to use. I took them through the Win directories to find their work areas and then could stand by the interactive touch whiteboard to progress through the exercise or have students interact with the touch facility smartboard. As another example, you can put a video, image or file or student's work on the whiteboard and interact with it through the touch screen. You can pause a movie and write on the movie projected on the whiteboard.Anyway, it's a few years since I was involved in this, but have a read up on the latest smartboard features and see what you think.Sent from my SM-J700F using Tapatalk
simon43 Posted August 1, 2018 Author Posted August 1, 2018 ,,,but you can now probably set these up so that a student in China can interact with the smartboard in your room. No, that's not want I want ? I already interact with the student using the relevant classroom app that each online company uses - and I must use that app! The use of the large touchscreen monitors is simply for my own use during each lesson - to allow me to display the classroom app on one screen (and then tap on the various app options to interact with the student, and then use the second touchscreen to easily manage the Sparkocam green screen app (and an audio app). Basically, I need these screens because my laptop screen is too small and my eyesight is too bad!!! 1
robblok Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 I am so far not able to locate touch screen monitors but maybe if you ask around with invade IT they might be able to get them invade IT is run by foreigners and I have found them quite helpful but not always the cheapest (usually a few 100 bat more expensive then others) Below a review of touch screen monitors.. then at least you know what to ask for. http://www.toptenreviews.com/computers/peripherals/best-touchscreen-monitors/
harrry Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 (edited) Dell are available but not cheap. I have an old Acer T230H touch but it is only three point. I bought that at Pantip in Chiangmai at about twice the cost of the equivalant standard. How about a cheap tablet Remote Desktoped to your machine. or try www.itandhome.com/จอทัชสกรีน.html Edited August 2, 2018 by harrry
