Rimmer Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Unlit construction zone creates deathtrap at highways 36-7 interchange PATTAYA:-- Motorists say roadwork to widen Highway 36 in Kratinglai has created a deathtrap where large holes and drop-offs are invisible in the dark. Highway workers removed streetlights around the work zone at the Highway 36-Highway 7 interchange in Pong, which is being widened to six lanes. The highway on both sides has been dug up, but is badly marked and, at night, the meter-deep trenches can’t be seen. About seven kilometers of roadway are being rebuilt with work expected to continue through December. Commuters are calling on the Highway Department to immediately install lights and better signage to prevent accidents. -- © Copyright Pattaya Mail 2018-08-10 "Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast!" Popular Post Esso49 Posted August 10, 2018 Popular Post Posted August 10, 2018 Of course driving slower with due care and attention would help greatly but of course for Thais that would be incomprehensible. Better qualify that and say Thai males as generally , according to my insurer friend, Thai females are safer by a factor of 7:1 based on insurance claims. 3 1
sammieuk1 Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Everything is invisible in any direction or lumens in their diving style ?
Justgrazing Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Another way of keeping Thailand top of the pops for road casualties ..

In seven years I can't remember a single proper breakdown triangle or flashing light. I bet some posters have not done many night trips on unlit roads in Thailand? I avoid it as good as possible. 1
johng Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 They did have some flashing lights earlier...and some very annoying bright white fluorescent strip lights along the central reservation that blinded and totally disoriented me !! both seem to have gone now. .
mok199 Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 yes it can be challenging...but that's the allure of Thailand ,or is it the beaches..mabey the honest taxi drivers....what was the question again?? 2

Redline Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 There is no will or though of safety here. One simply must spend tens of thousands on the proper amulet-cheap Chinese copies will be the death of you 1
anon467848 Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Muppets, 3rd world country mentality....? Lights on, nobody home...?
mikebell Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 Why don't they install a giant TV screen showing adverts? That gives off lots of light and gives the drivers something to do whilst they are squeezing their spots. Great stretches of Suk are unlit because street lights are not maintained making bike riders with no lights all but invisible.
johng Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 I drove past this yesterday and its all "lit up like a Christmas tree" now , so someone took notice !!!!!!
