Dead Green Turtle found on Trat beach with plastic-stuffed stomach

By The Nation

A Green Turtle was found dead on a beach in Trat province on Friday.

Local residents found the dead turtle on Ban Ta Nuek Beach in Tambon Klong Yai of Klong Yai district.

It was 5.15 centimetres in length and appeared to be around five or six years old, officials said.

They cut open the sea creature’s stomach and found plastic bags and pieces of ropes and nets, along with some oyster shells.

The officials took tissue samples from its front leg and kept the stomach contents to send to the Rayong Marine and Coastal Resources research and development centre for further study.

The carcass was buried at the beach.

Unfortunately there is not much else, apart from plastic, in the Gulf for them to eat...

Fished out and polluted beyond belief !!

Shouldn’t that be 51.5 cm?

I did wonder about the size too... 50 cm would be way too big though for only 5-6 yrs old..

Mai pen rai ...

turtles survived for 150 million years ... but if they survive the pollution created by mankind , I doubt it ...

Where does all the rubbish in sea & Gulf come from??

Is it Land rubbish? Commercial fishing Boats? Shipping passenger & cargo?

Or all of above!!

Not seen any source identified in these articles about deaths  of sea creatures....

Land trash carried out in floodwaters or rivers and commercial fishing primarily.  There will be a critical point of no return, maybe we’ve reached it already.

No more seafood to put into polystyrene dishes inside the plastic bag and placed in the carrier bag to throw into the sea

Thailand say's  "NotThai Plastic, Cambodian Plastic, we should protest!!"

Most of it is washed down the Chaiophraya river from Bangkok.

Shame Gov't not taking stronger action to reduce the level of pollution....nature seems to be getting a belting from  abusive human
