Just to let those who might not know.

If your mobile rings and the number shows up starting 0909  it's from Nigeria.

I had two missed calls and when I checked the code it says Nigeria.

I won't be calling them back.

The IDD code 234 is for Nigeria. A number starting 09 is a Thai mobile number...

Sent from my ZX81 using a dial-up modem.

The OP is correct, 090 is a Nigeran cellphone prefix.

090 is the area code for Abuja according to your link. But, that said, 0909 is, indeed, a mobile code for 9mobile. A bit confusing for 090 codes to be assigned to both mobile and landline numbers, I think!

But, as per the OP, I would have expected any call to have been displayed as +234909.... on my Thai mobile in any event.

But you might have the opportunity to receive  your share of millions of dollars..if you send them your bank account details  so they can release their funds !!!

If I get a missed call and its not from someone already in my contact list...they can call back again later (or never I don't care) certainly won't call them back.

Got my 15% of the millions the last time. Send me your bank details and I'll share with you but keep it quiet.

Perhaps it's a Nigerian living in Thailand?

P.S. ZX81 - remember it well. 32K RAM expansion port, 300 Baud modem - oh happy days!

If 0909 were the first digits to be shown, you would assume it's a a True Move mobile number.

If the call wasn't answered, how can the OP be sure it was from Nigeria?

If for some reason the 'presentation number' is not being displayed in it's entirety, then no one can say where it originates from.

However, if it displayed +234-909...., then yes originates from Nigeria.

All assuming no one has spoofed the presentation number - which could be possible.
