Bangkok hospital working days

Featured Replies

Could anyone tell me if Bangkok hospitals work a 7 day week, for check ups, or is it better to stick to Mon to Fri, for best doctor access?

my experience is 7 day week, not to say 24/7

bkk medics work weird hours, Tuesday-Sunday / same same

All work a 7 day week - normally have full time staff in each department cover and part time extra often on weekends and other days (weekends are normally busy).  Normal opening time is 08-0900 and closing 1700 or later (often much later).  Best doctor in the best qualified or doctors that will be available most days?  There often are doctors that may only attend one day a week that are very highly regarded if you need specialist care.  As said normal full time staff cover all 7 days with few working Mon-Fri time frame.

If you are referring to general check ups in the check up dept (as opposed to consultation with a specialist for a specific problem) they are 7 days a week, usually start around 7 AM and close around 2-3, but as labs need to be done fasting you should arrive in the morning, having not eaten breakfast.

If it is to consult a doctor about a specific problem then you should select the doctor specifically and attend when s/he has hours. Most hospitals list doctor CVs on their websites.  Most of the best doctors hold teaching positions at government hospitals and have their private hours evenings and weekends but there are a few exceptions. In any case I strongly recommend against taking a "pot luck" approach or allowing the hospital staff to decide which doctor to send you to. Select the doctor yourself in advance. If you want suggestions, let me know what sort of problem.
