Power Shower

Featured Replies

I would like to have a proper shower in our upstairs bathroom rather than the piddling affair we have at the moment from the electric shower

What are the options? Perhaps a hot water tank in the roofspace over the bathroom and a power shower pump?

How big is your current pump and how many watts is your upstairs heater?

Then get a more powerful water pump . 200 watt is not powerful enough.

How is water-flow on taps in the upper floor?

Close the main valve and unmount the intake of the heater.

They usually have a filter grid at the intake.

Depending on the water quality this can be clogged (or do you have a sediment filter?).

I had this here downstairs and problem resolved after cleaning.

We live well with a 255 Watt Mitsu pump.

Waterflow in the bathroom tap is very good so it maybe a blockage. Thanks

Probably ½" pipe? If so then upgrading your pipe work will virtually certainly increase the flow available. The 6KW shower is almost certainly capable enough though depending on age it may need lime scale removal.

The pump is quite likely to be big enough. Putting in a bigger pump may not be enough to overcome the probable small diameter pipe quite possibly with multiple 90 degree fittings.

Also check the little screen on the inlet of the water heater, sometimes they get a little plugged up. I found mine by accident, but it made a big difference when I cleaned it.
