Misplaced traffic sign increases congestion

Misplaced traffic sign increases congestion

A sign erected pointing motorists to an alternate route to prevent congestion is causing traffic problems of its own.

The sign, put up by police on Soi Chaiyapornwitee 15 was placed in such a way that it blocks the view of drivers trying to use the intersection.

Nongprue public works boss Thongchai Kamlangthai said the sub-district plans to move the sign away from its current place in front of a Family Mart.

Ironically, the sign causing traffic problems was put up to avoid traffic problems. It tells motorists to avoid congestion on Chiayapornvitee and Route 3240 by taking the Motorway 7 access road instead during rush hours. But the sign actually caused more congestion than it solved.

How can this story have any significance with only one pointer???

It's not only the number of pointers. This pointer must be more important - well she does seem to carry more weight.

It must come with the territory. The highways in Thailand are busy and apparently so are the sign workers. They must be as they don't have enough time to double check their work.

to rectify that one letter mistake  the installer had the whole lot printed again    :w00t:

I find the signage on Thai roads to be the worst in the world (that I have experienced). It is simply dreadful.

Perhaps the worst is leaving old signs up  when they put new ones up....the same with new white lines painted on the road....just leave the old ones so that there are literally tens of options.

The other really nasty one is where there is no signs at all the indicate priority. One was driving recently on a bend on main road where I assumed I had priority, and a truck came out and hit me. The Thai driver claimed he had priority since he was on a straight road and I was on a bend. The whole thing could be sorted out with a simple Give Way or Stop sign for the road with priority. The cop found no fault and told us to fix our own vehicles.

Couple of places like that near me where there used to be white lines but they have literally disappeared over the last few years - have to be very careful as priority seems to be whoever gets there first or the biggest!

Actually, I enjoy the highway signs. Some are easy to figure out and others not so much.

the one on the left should have an apple on it ?

This confusing sign urges motorists to drive on the 7 motorway where the speed signs are baffling to say the least; 90 or 120?  Up to you.
