A Thai language teacher who went online to say how proud she was to go on her hands and knees every month to her husband got a lot more than she bargained for from modern Thai netizens.

The Thai language teacher in Sakon Nakhon said that ever since she was married she had "graap-ed" (performed obedience and respect) on her hands and knees to her husband on every Buddhist holy day (Wan Phra).

She felt this showed her love and devotion to her husband.

Very quickly the post on Monday was shared 13,000 times.

While some said it was a lovely thing to do in line with Thai culture some men said that when they suggested it, their wives turned on them.

The Thai men were told in no uncertain terms that they were good for nothing and not deserving of such a high level of respect.

Some, according to Sanook's headline, even said they would rather "graap maa" or show their respects to a dog rather than their wastrel Thai husbands.

Hey I like a girl on her hands and knees occasionally!  but, to be serious, she is a product of Thai suppression with a sprinkling of the submissive in her.  I love submissive girls but not acting like they are pathetic to some Thai husband 'Boss'.

Having never heard of "graap" before, I have just asked my wife about it.

She was thrilled that I'd asked about it and immediately insisted on preforming the act on me.

She gathered some gear from her Buddah shrine, seated me and knelt before me. Several wais, bows and words of gushing gratitude ensued for a good few minutes. When she'd finished she was beaming and asked how it was for me. I replied that I didn't think she was finished as the article said that the culmination of the "graap" was a BJ.

Her face changed and all I got was the finger.

It's already well enshrined in the Nan household's mantra, has been since day one.

"Give us this day our daily graap"

Is this really news?

What it shows is her blind obedience to the idea of kowtowing to him.

No wonder this country's still struggling to escape the 1950s! Everyone has to grovel to someone else ... No concept of equality, human rights, reward for effort, merit principle, leadership by example ...

And while  having that thought did it  avoid facial recognition or  was it  simply weeding  the garden  sort of  thing?

it's only because he's older than her

are you on LSD ?

Nothing wrong with showing a partner love and appreciation. But it should be mutual and a spontaneous act, not a duty performed as part of a patriarchal faith-based religion.

I would have completely agreed with you before I came to Thailand. It's deeper than their religion though, it's in the DNA.

Here, a man's duty is to provide for his family, and the wife's duty is to run the home and do everything she can to please her man. The biggest compliment you can pay a Thai wife is to tell her that she makes you very happy.

It may be a Neolithic concept to us, but accept it, absorb it and not only will your wife be very happy, you will too!

Thank you for advising my wife and I on how to enjoy successful marriage. If only we had known all this before we spent 16 years raising five kids together!

Are you, by any chance, a reincarnation of Marjorie Proops? If so, I take back anything naughty I may have said about religion.

If the man pays the bills, as most farang do here, I think it is ok as telling the maid what to clean and going shopping............. and cheating from time to time, is hardly work

How many women actually do this?
Can't believe this is the norm....

It's becoming the norm for me. Since my last post, I had the "big conversation" with my wife.

Graap now has a BJ for the finale. Happy graaping!
