Logistics question before flying Thailand to UK with my Son

Hi,

Just making sure I have everything correct before flying to the UK with my son.

He has Thai and UK passports we are flying from Chiang Mai - Kuala Lumpur then KL - Heathrow UK.

Just to clarify here

He will Leave Chiang Mai immigration on his Thai Passport

We will arrive in KL and this is where I need some clarification

We will pass through KL immigration and then check in for the UK flight and stamp out KL for the UK flight

So for the KL leg should he use he be using his Thai or UK passport?

The confusion for me is that if he uses his Thai Passport when we stamp out of Malaysia will the boarding pass indicate that it is connected to a UK passport?

Hope this makes sense!

Go all the way on the UK passport. Thus includes the actual leaving from LOS.

But then use the Thai passport solely for the actual final re-entry into LOS itself at BKK etc

Doing it this way answers you query on that all external entries an departures are on the same passport the UK one.

On the UK onew  around Europe solves the usual hassles of using an Asian one over there

If you just have the one ticket booking you must use the same passport for ALL flights, there and back. Whichever you use will be logged at Chiang Mai.

It will be 2 tickets Air Asia Chiang Mai to KL then KL to London will be with British Airways.

You do not pass immigration in KL

You are in....transit. Because you do not enter Malaysia.

only time a swapping-as-you-go-with-Passports thing, might glitch... would be if transitting thru any Lounge in a  U.S territory for example

aside from all that, the OP says... (going thru Immigration) so therefore they are either doing a StopOver,

or the Flight was one of those half Domestic Half International mixed local type flights? (the bit between CM/KL)

One might naturally assume he's going MAS, hence the KL stop.

There are some situations around particular flights in paticular countries; where even though a passenger is even just flying 'domestic' as afras they are personally concerned,

they can be on an International leg of a Flight Number... and get the Immigration treatment

Are you sure you know what thehell you are talking about? I was told by imagration at the airport that he needed to use his Thai passport as he has no Thai no entry stamp VISA in his UK passport which is a BIG problem! Use the UK passport in KL and everywhere else, just be sure to use the Thai passport upon re-entry to Thailand!

Just stumbled upon this thread from Sep 25 by member @anonymouse

Question to the OP: is the thread still relevant or already traveled?

If still relevant it should be moved to the Thai visas forum for more knowledgeable answers.

which 'the airport' is referring to?

that double negative, the '... no Thai no entry stamp... ' thing

ummm. we are both saying the same thing, aren't we?...    the only time the Thai passport is used, is for just any entry into Thailand - the UK one for everywhere else through an Immigration point.

There wouldn't of course be an Entry into Thailand stamp in his UK Passport, as the Thai passport is being used for Entry/Re-Entry to LOS. The using of a respective Passport for an Entry into  that Passport's Country of Issue.

The latter point in the quoted, was about; that using the UK passport for around Europe enables the Shengen ease of travel around there
