Video: Thai official says being drunk has got nothing to do with it!

A video going viral on Thai social media shows a Thai official barely able to stand he is so drunk.

He is involved in a disagreement with an angry man who has a child with him. Someone is filming from the back of a pick-up.

At one point the furious man says: Have you been drinking?

The official replies: "Mai giaw" - That has got nothing to do with it.

It appears there is an allegation of assault.

The clip appeared on a site on Facebook called "Hot Clips - Go Ahead and Share".

More about this as we hear of it.

Is he wearing a Nazi eagle above his name badge? The video is a little blurry, just like him.

At least it looks very similar. From 1:30 on I would say "yes".
Can't imagine it's any official Thai badge.

From the amount of medals I would say he collects trollies around makro car park.

I would say NO.

He seems to be a "Thahan Phran".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thahan_Phran

Member of a paramilitary/auxiliary force, border patrol etc.

I found this "eagle" on a Thai FB site ("Honorarymark") with Thai medals/badges in this context.
I tried to find a higher quality picture to no avail.

Compare with the uniform:

Paratrooper wings? Must be on the security detail of a condo exceeding 10 storeys.

It might be worth knowing that in the 1940's Thailand had a leader who had much sympathy with Adolf :whistling:

No. Paratrooper wings show an open parachute.

Most all higher ranks have it.

Seems you're right, in both points ...

Your linked Wiki article is very interesting. Thank you!

Well he did seem to be "flying high" !!

Awards and parachute wings seem to be given out like confetti in Thailand, as do medals and uniforms; as the country has always been obsessed with them.

It is not even necessary to do a parachute jump to get the wings and legally be allowed to wear them. They are a nonsense, carry no recognition, and have no merit or value outside Thailand.

Senior Thais in the military have more medals than the old Idi Amin, the former president of Uganda had!

yea, some of my civil servant friends wear military style uniform occasionally, even though their jobs have nothing to do with the military, many are adorned with medal ribbons, when i ask what they are for i usually get a smile and shrug of the shoulders.

Ain't the use, promotion, and access of modern gadgetry wonderful?

On the Facebook page linked to in the article, the uploader says he had just stopped at the petrol station to fill up with petrol when the official came up and accused him of selling drugs.

HE uploaded the video so the whole world knows about it.

Thai official says being drunk has got nothing to do with it

I call those (alleged) BMA officials "sidewalk commandos".
