I think losing that class action lawsuit on the transmission debacle answers your question.

One would hope losing several million in lawsuits will make Ford Thailand lift their game.

Not doubting you but where did you read the Thai spec for it ?

Take a look at the pictures here. In the two cars on the left, you can see that the steering wheel is on the right side.

Not priced for the mass market at 4.5.

The one at 3.5 is what I call “all flash but no cash” or “the name but not the game”.

Apologies if I missed it - but is it imported or made in Thailand? I want to ship just the engine, transmission etc to aus. Might be cheaper than getting it from USA (?)

Dont agree with all the Roads being bad, just because you use a bad bit, get out all over Thailand, some excellent stretches of highway with no traffic worth a mention mid week.Mustang here is ideal if your a distance driver and not a Melon Seller or Bog Dweller.Hence they may sell 2 if lucky.:drunk:

Wouldn't you need all the rides tech stuff to go with it...?

There is no question that those trannys in the cafe cars were an abortion. They were developed because of US govt interference AND the fact that in the USA folks dont know how to drive sticks anymore.

On the otherhand, The Mustang is a high quality, superfast, nice handling vehicle. Screw the eco boost, give me natural aspiration. But regardless, its way too much for Thai roads. Punch it and it will sink your nuts into the seat.

People still know how to drive manual transmissions in the us, its just auto trans technology from fuel mileage to gear combos to longevity has surpassed manual trans long ago. Ill take a ten speed auto with an ecm control any day of the week. I dont think the ford trans was the problem here it was more that there are very few qualified techs in thailand for modern autos to diagnose them and repair them.

I would go for the new small block Ford crate 460ci (7.5) 660hp/600ft/lbtq. at $12k..????

That would be the better choice for the money. I wonder if australia has any import restrictions on HP ? Summit racing makes some damn fine motors.

No, young folks dont, and those cheapy cars were designed for first time buyers. So rather than design a new tranny for the US, they modified a manual gearbox. It was an abortion.

Speaking as a former Ford employee. One of my many hats.

I confess I don’t know much about car engines - not sure what you mean. I’m restoring an old car. When I say “I’m”, I mean I paying someone to do it. Anyway, the guy doing the engine installation said I’d be better off waiting for someone to crash their current model mustang and buying the engine second hand. I don’t know why, but I don’t like the sounds of that. He said it would be cheaper than importing brand new.

There is a reason the new us f150 raptor has an ecoboost motor now instead of the old tired 5.0 liter, its a 100% better motor all around.

The Raptor is a toy. You want something that is going to last forever no matter what the conditions, you want the 5.0 or even better, the old 6 cylinder. A truck is a truck and should purchased like one.

But this is about Mustangs, not trucks.

Excellent. Thanks. I found another similar site https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-6007-M50A, but I don’t know enough about everything I need to make an apples with apples comparison.

You would need ALL the computer stuff that the engine and trans requires..

If you bother to read the thread you will see some posters have advised it is available in Australia and the UK . In case you don't know both countries have RHD vehicles. If you check their websites further you will see the Australian specification for the Mustang as well as the UK one  on their respective websites. At the time of my post yesterday the Thai spec was not available on the Ford Thailand website. Clear enough for you ?

You might as well go dig a hole in the ground, throw your money in and burn it.

The price is ridiculous.

I bought a V8 Mustang GT Convertible in 1999 for $25,000 in California, sold it 107,000 miles later.  Great car, very dependable, never had a problem. Before that I drove a Porsche 944 which broke down frequently and, although also fun to drive, cost a fortune to repair.  I give thumbs up to the Ford. ☝️

He is probably right about that, nothing wrong with a motor from a wrecked car usually. Check around and see if they have any insurance claim/auto salvage auctions. Problem these days is cars are so expensive insurance companies will spend a lot of money repairing them instead of replacing them.
