Since when has there been a Robinson in Silom Road?

Many years since it was there.

It's a landmark that many people remember, that's all, helps with the location.

Yes just what Bangkok needs, another overpriced plastic-paddy bar that helps you forget where you are. I am sure the well scrubbed and ethusiastic, market going grockles will love it.

It's not the fault of the owners of such venues. Imported beer is heavily taxed in Thailand unfortunately. For example, if you go to a 'local kind of venue' anywhere in Thailand, the imported beer there is likely to be about the same price as that of the imported beer at an Irish/English pub.

Anyway, it is always good to have a lot of alternatives, regarding venues.

Grand reopening of the "rennovated O'Malleys" (?) as across the carpark from Wine Connection Silom has been an O'Malley's for years.

Look at the map. That is where The Pintsman used to be.

Grumpy Old Man needs to get out more. That was Molly Mallone's, called 'Mollies' by us locals.

That whole site including Wine Connection, Starbucks, Mollies and the 7-11 Head Office is being demolished ready for a new development.

I never said anything about the cost of imported beer. I understand the monopoly control of the licensed trade.

As a change from your 'ome from 'ome have a walk down Patpong 1 and a drink in some of the original bars there - while they are still there. See what made the place.

And I do not mean the go-go bars.
