It's a landmark that many people remember, that's all, helps with the location.

brewsterbudgen
Yes just what Bangkok needs, another overpriced plastic-paddy bar that helps you forget where you are. I am sure the well scrubbed and ethusiastic, market going grockles will love it.It's good for Silom as we've just lost 2 Irish pubs. No one is forced to eat/drink there.Sent from my SM-G930F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

For example, if you go to a 'local kind of venue' anywhere in Thailand, the imported beer there is likely to be about the same price as that of the imported beer at an Irish/English pub. Anyway, it is always good to have a lot of alternatives, regarding venues.

Grumpy Old Man needs to get out more. That was Molly Mallone's, called 'Mollies' by us locals. That whole site including Wine Connection, Starbucks, Mollies and the 7-11 Head Office is being demolished ready for a new development.

As a change from your 'ome from 'ome have a walk down Patpong 1 and a drink in some of the original bars there - while they are still there. See what made the place. And I do not mean the go-go bars.
