How to fix Your Windows License is Expiring Soon?

Recommended Posts

Two or three weeks prior, my workstation (windows 10 professional) began to showing me a pop message that I have not found in the a half year that I've had it.

I did some burrowing around and evidently the license on this Windows 10 terminates in 5 days on November 3rd. Presently I have no involvement with anything like this so I don't recognize what it implies, what will occur on the 3rd or what to do about it.

Under the actuation tab in settings, it says, "Windows is activated using your organization's activation service". I purchased this PC few months back and it has been extraordinary - possibly the best workstation I have ever had without any issues. I checked around internet utilizing Google, etc... but no help. So any thoughts? There are some "fixes" on YouTube however I would prefer not to screw around with anything except if I truly need to.

There is no Windows label anywhere on the PC and I don't have an product key or disk. So anybody think about this as well as what to do? The issue began with the latest update, yet I imagine that was only a coincidence.

Just a guess that this is not a properly licensed (to you) copy of W10 Pro but a copy from a corporate release. These normally have a 180 day period before activation is needed, hence preferable to lazy computer shops who will install for you 'free of charge'.

I am not entirely sure if you can get a cheap license key (W10 Pro Retail) for this install and simply change the license key?? Someone with experience here should be able to answer that.

If it were me and I wanted to keep on the 'legit' side of the fence, I would get a cheap key (e-bay/lazada/etc), download the latest version of W10 from the Microsoft site and do a fresh install. This will obviously mean re-installing the rest of the software that you use.

If you want to 'walk on the wild side' there are literally dozens of 3rd party soft-wares that can help you do this, getting rid of the activation label on your desktop and 're-activating' your current version. Due to forum rules, I will not name any of these; Google is your friend..........................

As stated above, the Corporate copy issue is just a guess. Open your search box and type in winver and then click on the command line entry in the search box to find out what flavour you are running. Can also open Run and type in winver, which ever is easiest.

If your licence finishes than you have several options:

- do nothing; you will have an un-licenced version and M$ might stop the updates ?

- you may install a free O.S., any Linux distribution will do, guess some user friendly ones will be easy to convert, e.g. Ubuntu, Meta, Mint

- you may try to buy a licence via Ebay, or other channels, when these are cheap, you will buy a risk that these might work or not, or work for a longer time, and if your lucky might work longer.

- try to find a valid key for Windows 7 or 8, and try to upgrade that to a  validated W10; read the computer magazine sites how to. Just this week , I read in PCWorld that this method is still open to upgrade to  a free W10. Valid licences for W7 and W8 are far cheaper than for W10.

- buy a valid licence, that is costly however and your licence will have to match the version of W10 be it Home, Pro or Ultimate.

I bought laptop using Win 10 at Homework last year and this month the dialog popped up the expiration warning. The staff says no problems, and they can fix it for free of charge.

So it is probably Authorised using  KMS Pico. Go onto ebay, search Windows 10 key,  and buy one for £2.99, emailed to you.works perfectly for my 2 PCs.

What if this one also start showing error after few months? I need permanent solution and I don't remember that I ever used this KMS Pico.

The folks you bought it from at Homeworks probably used KMS Pico. The only permanent, 100% sure solution is to buy a proper licence from Microsoft, which isn't THAT expensive if you need a kosher operating system with all support and updates.

You have four options.

1. Buy Windows 10

2. Figure out how to use KMS Pico

3. Take it back and let them reactivate using KMS Pico

4.  Or just buy a cheap activation code off Lazada or Ebay.  It will probably work.  Why not try?

As for #4, you can include Amazon - look for an OEM issue of windows 10 - ensure it is the exact same version (Home, Pro, Enterprise)

Buy that, don't bother with the download, just use the key provided

Here's an example https://www.amazon.co.uk/Windows-Professional-Electronic-Software-Download/dp/B01759H62S/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1540888642&sr=8-3&keywords=windows+10+pro+key

And, in fact Amazon also offer just the key https://www.amazon.co.uk/Windows-Pro-Key-Bits-Money-back/dp/B07FZ2WXL4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1540888642&sr=8-1&keywords=windows+10+pro+key

You MIGHT need to have a MS Outlook (formerly Hotmail) account to verify it - takes about 5 minutes to create one - don't bother with any personal details 'cos you may never use it again!

Hey, First thing I would suggest is to move to a different OS altogether. If you can manage some moderate GUI, Ubuntu is the ideal OS as per your scenario.

Also, as @ricklev & @VBF suggested, try using the KMS Pico. It works for noobs perfectly. You can refer to this discussion for a walkthrough - https://www.quora.com/What-is-KMSpico-and-can-it-activate-Windows-10-from-a-KMSpico-activated-Windows-8-1

Now, technically, using an Activator is not legal and violates piracy, that's why I would suggest you to go through some fixes. Microsoft's official site alreadt has answers to all your problems:

Or you can try this alternative to fix your windows license will expire soon problem.

And next time, please ask questions relevant to this forum only.

Alex

It's cheaper because I don't want to spend those $100 on it. Thanks bdw.

I tried almost all the guides till second page of Google but so far I think they just provide a temporary solution. Still, thanks for the mention. It's fixed now.
