Officials raised red flags along Sam Roi Yod Beach in Prachuap Khiri Khan on Friday to warn people against against swimming in the sea because of high waves.

Udomsak Khaonuna, chief of Sam Roi Yod district’s disaster prevention and mitigation office, said his officials raised the flags after learning about a strong northeast monsoon over the Gulf of Thailand.

He said hotels and resorts along the beach had been asked to issue a similar warning to their guests and local tour guides were also being notified of the danger.

Good job the vegetarian festival in Phuket has just finished.

I works for everyone except Chinese tourists. They are så used with the red flag so they believe its a beach made especially for them. At least if we look at results back in time regarding the red flag.
