In the past I was able to find finesteride (Proscar brand) in Bangkok, but last year I unfortunately bought a non-Proscar brand that turned out to be fake. I bought it in the Sukhumvit area at a well known pharmacy name.

 

Does anyone know where I an find Finesteride Proscar brand in Bangkok without a prescription?  (I assume it's still in Pattaya but don't want to travel down there to get it).

I don't know what brand you bought but reliable local brands include:

GPO-Finax 5 mg

Harifin-5

There is so little profit and market for a fake local generic of finasteride 5 mg that I wonder if you might have inadvertently bought a 1 mg preparation.

I have no reason to assume that the "Firide 5 mg", from Siam Bhesach Co. Ltd. which I am taking since a month is fake.

Obviously feeling side effects.

I got it at our local pharmacy in the district town.

No prescription required.

30 pills about 800 Baht.

Would be more than surprised if not most or any pharmacy in Bangkok would have the stuff.

 

How did you find out that your product was fake?

I should have clarified. I only take 1 mg per day for my hair. I've been using it for 20 years.

 

I buy 5 mb, and cut it into little pieces.  1 little piece is about 1 mg and I got 5 days per 5mg pill.

 

(Studies about 10 years ago even stated that less than 1 mg per day still keeps the hair.  In my case some/a lot of my hair actually grew back)

 

I have no problem buying 1 mg pills if they are available, I've just not thought of doing it. I started the 5 mg finisteride (not always Proscar brand) in Thailand in 2002.

The same product is sold at Fascino pharmacies. They have a solid reputation for not selling fake meds. Available in 1 and 5 mg.

Yes, I remember Firide from years ago.  I will buy this if I find it. You claim it's easy and i'll ask for it in BKK on my next trip there.

 

My purchase was fake b/c after using it for a couple weeks my hair started shedding like a dog.

 

I only take 1 mg or .85 or so per day.

 

This has happened 3 times over 20 years when I've ended up buying fake finisteride.  One time in Phnom Penh ad the other in Vietnam.

I have two unopened boxes of Harifin-5. I don't take it anymore...

 

Came from the hospital ...has been kept in the fridge ...exp date 12/19

You can easily buy it in 1 mg dose and that is more accurate than trying to cut up 5 mg tabs, in the process of which some will get lost.

Go see 'Dr Dick' at Chulabhorn ... it's not expensive there and it's not expensive to see him either ...........

Yes, true.

 

Easy to find 1 mg? OK, I will look for it when I visit Bangkok.
