Quick Udon Question/Villa Supermarket

Featured Replies

is the Villa Market in Udon a full representation of those in BKK or just a knock-off 7-11/Big C Mini?

It's a real villa market, but a smaller one (not as small as 7/11 ;))

I don't even go to Tops in Udon any longer since I started going to Villa Market UD Town.

Villa Market UD Town has far more farang item choices than any Tops I have ever been in.

It's right behind the McDonalds on Phosi Rd.

And the some of sales assistants are pleasing to look at too...????

thanks for the input.  have a great day!

I visit it regularly (about once a month) and it is a "real" Villa market with real prices  (sure not that extensive like Pattaya or Bangkok Sukhumvit Soi 11).

That does not save you from finding "out of stock" signs every other time.

Since more than a month some stuff I look for is out of stock.

Yes it's a "luxury problem" that specific imported cheese or chocolate is out but after 120 km one way still a bit annoying.

But still better than Udon Big C (at the southern ringroad).

Basically no more Casino cold cuts/sausage/salami etc. since two months or so.

(soft cheese/spread is all they have)

I believe? the Udon Villa is a franchised store not run by the owners of the "Villa" brand, no where near as good as Bangkok branches but still the best for western items in Udon.

They were out of corn tortillas for a couple three times I went

I sent an email asking about stock situation. They had some in two

later and held for me. I live 60 km away so not a daily or weekly trip.

Good selection and if you’ve plenty of time to look around you’ll see well stocked. Good butcher are with good meat.

The very pleasant customer service lady, whose name was Sato I think, left about 2 months ago.

She spoke quite good english & was always helpful.

Anyone know who replaced her?

I stock up on the items I cannot live without, one of them is my Kalamata olives which are my favorite and when I am half way through the half dozen or so jars that I buy, I will head back and top up, the 180km round trip is worth the olives alone, although I do the Macro shuffle, the Central waltz and the farang bar crawl which makes it a good day out.
