Burglary suspect arrested after boasting about stolen amulet on Facebook

By The Nation

A suspected burglar has been arrested in Ratchaburi after he posted a picture on Facebook of a Buddha amulet he allegedly stole from an apartment in Bangkok.

Phra Khanong police arrested Weerachai Phomthong, 38, at his house in Moo 6 village in Tambon Wat Pleng in Ratchaburi's Wat Pleng district at 3.30am.

Weerachai was arrested under an arrest warrant issued by the South Bangkok Criminal Court on December 19.

On December 12, a tenant of an apartment building on Soi Sukhumvit 50 in Phra Khanong district filed a complaint that his room was broken into and a gold necklace worth over Bt100,000 with an amulet and a mobile phone were stolen.

Police checked footage of security cameras at the apartment and saw Weerachai entering the room.

Weerachai later posted the picture of stolen amulet on his Facebook wall, which gave police information to track him to Ratchaburi and arrest him.

Weerachai told officers he wanted to boast about the amulet to his friends.

A candidate for the New Year Darwin Award.

What was he thinking?????

Well it's a toss up between him and the burglar who fell asleep on the job and got strangled as to who wins the most stupid criminal of the year award.

He is not smart but i thought Darwin awards always ended in fatality unless he gets the death penalty for burglary its not a Darwin award candidate. Still I get what your saying the guy is not smart at all.
