Popular Post Tropicalevo
Yesterday, I went to take a back up of my files on my computer. Back up drive did not register on my laptop. Hopped onto the bike and scooted down to Tesco Lotus. Being short of time, I just bought the first one that I saw. WD Elements 2 TB - 2,250 baht according to the price on the rack. Same same everywhere. The assistant popped it into a security case and told me to take it to the main tills. On the way I picked up a couple of food items and went to the till. European guy was behind me. The girl at the till scanned the two food items and then disappeared, presumably to get the case removed. I tell the guy behind that he might want to go to another till. He said 'no rush. Was that A WD Elements back up drive?' Yep. He said that he had worked for them for 11 years - good stuff. Girl came back with the drive and scanned it. Total bill, 429 baht. Mai dai says I. Drive costs 2,250 baht. Girl calls over the supervisor who scans in the drive - 279 baht says the supervisor. No says I - 2,250 baht! Supervisor scans again - 279 baht and walks off. Guy behind me cannot believe it. 'That's 9 euros says he. Are there any more?' 'Yep - a few' I replied. He drops his shopping and dashes off to the ATM. I go home perplexed. I always play fair when I am given the wrong change or if someone stuffs up and over/under charges me. However, I cannot fight a bar code. No point everyone rushing off to Tesco Lotus as I think that the European guy planned on buying the whole lot. Happy New Year to you all. 3

I wonder if all TL stores have the same software bug... I'm afraid I'm guilty of cleaning out stock (and asking if they had more) when the till has registered an incorrect price. If it was a small independent place I'd ensure that I paid the correct price, but the Big Boys make so much profit that they can absorb a few k of missing revenue.
Tropicalevo
and I really tried to pay the correct price for the bluddy thing. Different item but a similar theme - a friend of mine is going to every Family Mart buying up all stocks of Snowy White Beer (or some such name). 55 baht in Family Mart. 155 baht in other places (Big C etc). Sorry if I spoil your excellent "wrong price" bargain, but International news said "Turkey prices reach 10-year low ahead of Thanksgiving", so might just mirror overstock and market price... However not sure if it's the same with hard drives, but you never know, the World might rapidly be heading for flash...????
