I can beat that, for me, the thrill of living has definitely gone. There's nothing I really want to do, and nowhere I really want to go.   So I might as well stay here, draw the curtain

You are not the only one. Once the thrill is gone, it's gone. Look at all the Long-Term Farangs in Tourist hubs.

After the thrill is gone, it's only the "low cost of living" that keeps them here.

Outside of that = What the hell am I doing here?

Have you tried train spotting, or basket weaving?

Take up a hobby, get fit, walking, cycling...anything but yes the thrill of Thailand has definately gone. Not a day goes past without some kind of altercation, rudeness, overcharging or other problem. Even today a simple trip to Foodmart was marred by some thug that tried pushing his way past me while taking something of the shelf..Foreigners and Thais alike its a drudge just to get through the days without issues.

Have tried both. After 2 days the thrill was gone.

A Good thing is not to snort all cocain at once,,,,,,,,,,,,,

pick up a hobbie and enjoy the boring side of life, then maybe, you will find some joy again. Your pleasure senter in your brain, thats the problem, not the service entertainment that lead you here at the first place.

You might want to try ladyboy’s? When all else fails take a walk on the wild side.

:cheesy:

Perhaps what you first thought was a thrill was simply an attraction to the place (or a person ) at the time and now you have returned to the state of mind you were in before you became entranced with things Thai. (Just saying)

So I might as well stay here, draw the curtains, and post on ThaiVISA all day ...............

Go home and join a local lawn bowls CLUB. At least it's hobby and you can bore everyone to tears with amazing thailand stories over beers later

Only one thing to do, and pump up your butt full of steroids, and go out with a blast when your hearth stops.

At least it will get you up and hungry again.

TRT can be solution for some

"There is no pleasure worth forgoing just for an extra three years in the geriatric ward." John Mortimer

Hi Chickenslegs: Does this John Mortimer hang around Pattaya by any chance? If yes, he could serve as a mentor for the OP ws well as myself!

He had a dry wit.

He also said ...

"Dying is a matter of slapstick and pratfalls. The aging process is not gradual or gentle. It rushes up, pushes you over and runs off laughing. No one should grow old who isn't ready to appear ridiculous."

Ho hum. What an exciting thread.

Yes he had a dry wit. The rest he said is something that we don't really want to hear. Isen't it?

Reading the posts on a thread like this is enough to induce depression.

try building a dungeon in a spare room. that's my new hobby.

Go for nature, astronomy and other sciences. Wonders never end, which keeps the brain happy and busy.

Become a hobbyist photographer. When that becomes a bore, increase your skill, for the fun of it. When that becomes boring, concentrate and find out the world of really small, the macro photography.

Get interested of astronomy and understand how insignificant you really are. Yes, it can be a liberating feeling. You'll also find new areas to learn more and more and more. It really never ends.

Learn physics and chemistry and learn to see the world around you in a different way. See the forces of the buildings standing next to you. See the power cables and their forces. See the chemistry around you, which is going to happen, before it happens. Then smile, knowingly ????

Old dogs already know to avoid what the tricksters are trying to play out. Old dogs can strike though the BS of "running in the hamster's wheel" for others.

Well, of course, there is the www and TV....5555.    Walks, eating at the new Thai and Western places are fine.  There is just a distinction regarding "Clinical Depression" and the "Tired" state.  Variety of activities are of course helpful, but I would just rather sleep the day away.   Fitness is good all around.  No longer in the help or volunteering mode.   Thought about buying a place by the beach, how original.... or close to it... and watching the rice grow.....and just be.

What's the definition of clinical depression and what is the root cause for it?

I can't talk for others, but I personally have lived pretty darn good and fulfilling life myself. When I came to stay and live in Thailand, my life has, to be frank, my life has been utterly boring. I do enjoy to learn new things, but the speed of learning new things has been minuscule compared what I experienced earlier.

So life becomes.. spending time.

I don't want that for my life. I don't want to simply spend or in reality waste my time. What can be changed?

I already mentioned the sciences and the advances of the human kind in general, which gives me a good feeling. Another thing is to exchange ideas with people who are able to converse at the same level. Sharing and developing ideas further.

Little things in life is to find people to have a good and intriguing conversation with. People who can teach us think in new ways. People whose knowledge and life experiences are greater than ours.

That's how I see the world.

If you are wise already. Share your wisdom to the younger generations. They want to learn from experiences and build on top of those experiences.

You have to keep reinventing yourself. Whenever I get bored I start a new adventure. Built a man cave a year ago and have some local blokes over from time to time. has a big screen, bar and golf simulator. I have also started my own YouTube music channel.

Got to keep bobbing and weaving. lol
