You forgot to tell us which city is this?

Also what camera model are you using for these great photos?

Chaing Rai district and an iPhone, I believe.

A few years back it was quite common to see the Atlas moth around but they seem to be very few around now ?

We made our annual visit to the Jim Thompson Farm in Korat a couple of weeks back, about a 2 hour drive from our place.  Luckily it was just before the Covid situation worsened.  Well worth the trip, as usual.

One more from the Farm.  The bark of a Rain Tree.  (Don't ask about it's bite).

The ones in the first post were just taken using my Samsung Note 8 phone.  The tree and tiger were taken with an old (2010) Sony Nex 5, fitted with an 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 optical steady shot lens.

What I like most about this thread is the positive responses from Members here.

The photos are specially revealing as most of them show your surroundings and nature that cost nothing to marvel and inspire you every day. They show that things that are really important to you reflect a healthy philosophy of life and that make you a happy and contented man.

Thailand is a wonderful and beautiful place - all one has to do is think that!

I don’t believe I could live this well anywhere else.  I have had time to learn how to live here and to acquire a few things.  I only have what I have and receive nothing in the way of pensions or government handouts.  I have no ex-wives or children to worry about so that helps too.????

I celebrate your finding happiness. Mine is a bit more restricted as a result of my poor economic choice of occupation. That said, while I cannot live on my retirement budget in the USA, I can join with you in recommending a Thailand retirement. I arrived a decade ago and was a fat boy in a candy store. Now very happily settled with a Thai wife and Stepdaughter. I chose the middle way by settling in Chiang Mai for various reasons, health concerns among them. A comfortable, sustainable life on my 65,000 baht a month.

Pictures look great. living the dream eh. I was having a similar predicament living in Pattaya near sea and city, but love the country side. couldn't make up my mind wether to stay here and visit countryside or live in countryside and visit the sea now and again. Mind you I don't go in the sea much nowadays what with the pollution and jellyfish. I guess as you get older you want a quieter life.Enjoy it my friend. Do you notice a difference in air quality ?

The country is the only way I could retire in Thailand.  I need a workshop and open space.   These pictures are amazing.  But as I imagine being in those pictures I feel the heat and humidity and the biting the insects.  I realize these pictures are taken in rare days when the air is clean.   It's rare to see blue sky in Thailand.  Plus no matter all the life and homestead you build in Thailand it's just one silly  rule vote away from being taken away.

It is something that many never really get to experience or live during their time in Thailand or at least for very short periods of time. Living in the Thai countryside like anything has it's positives and negatives. I pretty much started a website about getting out and seeing the real Thailand during Covid because it is something I have always done over my 16years of being here and wish a lot more people did. Nice pics and it looks like you are all set! Good for you mate, stay healthy and enjoy that life all you can ????

Just to show you whats out there

That is certainly not my intent.????  I just get tired of people painting such a bleak picture of life in Thailand.  Yes, some people live pretty miserable lives here but I believe they are overrepresented, online.  There are many of us who live quiet, comfortable lives, with someone who loves us as much as we love them.  I am just trying to balance the scale a bit by showing the other end of the spectrum.  Some of us are happy, healthy, and in loving relationships.

It is only bleak because they live in a bleak world. Life is what YOU make of it.

Does anyone have any knowledge of what happened to Villagefarang?

I have tried to contact him via his blog and through AN (TV) messenger but to no avail.

If you are dropping in VF, I just want to say thanks for showing me the view which might have swung the proposal in my favor 5555 we shall never no.

It was a bit of a misty day but thank God that didn't cloud her judgement and she said yes. Thanks again VF and I hope you are ok mate ????
