Each religion has a "mystical branch", which is not the same at all as the common branch. For Islam, it's Sufis. These are the whirling Dervishes. The poet Rumi, who wrote some wickedly cool poetry, was a Sufi. For Judaism, it's Kabbalah. Some rabbis are and have written interesting stuff, but it's not the conventional knowledge most people get from Judaism. And for Christianity, there are also some super smart dudes like Meister Eckhart. So it's not religion so much as the interpretations adopted by most followers that are the problem. And nobody reads these books by these super smart dudes.
