Both major parties stood on a platform manifesto that stated that they supported leaving the EU and respect the peoples decision to leave, they voted to leave the EU in Parliament, they knew the date was set for 29th March, I find it amazing now that some of the people seem to have forgotten what they were elected for and what they confirmed in Parliament, the power has certainly gone to some of the heads. Some like Sourpuss MP for Broxtowe are going against the direct wishes of her voters who voted by a majority of 6000 to leave, some of the others like Rudd have little time left in Parliament with her tiny majority will be out anyway at the next election, the last rites of a deluded member and whatever happened to collective responsibility in cabinet? You either leave or accept it.

The Establishment really does not like the "People" poking it in the eye, it cannot accept against all the odds that it lost the referendum and what is happening now is that the leaving date is just a matter of weeks away and their actions may well end up with the last thing they want to leave without a deal, it would be in every ones interest to try and get a deal, it will go to the wire but these Ministers especially and all the other remainers should be fighting for the best deal before the deadline is reached. Kicking the date down the road solves nothing and costs us, yes us not the MP's, 7B and for what, we get nothing for that 7B.

Clearly, from the statement by the university, who I would definitely believe over him, it was more than a discussion about halal meat in the refectory. "multiple complaints about “offensive and inappropriate comments” in lectures and seminars." 

 

As I've previously said, this university wouldn't suspend him for having one heated discussion in the refectory.

I originally referred to the uni by it's full name but subsequently referred to it as UCL as a convenient, clear abbreviation. You are correct in that UClan is the official abbreviation, just as UCum is the abbreviation for the university a bit further up the M6., the butt of many jokes locally.

I suppose common sense will prevail at the end, a thing we British are known for. This little excursion into extremist politics will be forgotten, along with the politicians that fostered it.

Slaughter according to the halal method is more likely to bring about unnecessary pain or distress to the animal. Your read on Sebastian's reason for speaking out about this is unsubstantiated and complete guesswork. Then you add in Robinson again for extra zing! Yes, but the humane way is to stun them first , the animals know nothing about it , rather than the inhumane way of letting them bleed to death , which is a slow painful distressing death
