From the ballistic calculator, which neglects air resistance:  plugging in a little trial and error, 35 Km/hour would launch one straight up about 5 meters.  Can't tell from the article exactly what the driver was doing, but more likely it was in the 80 km/hour range.  Not sure how the bike got sent so high in the upward direction, but I attach the calculator link for fun. Maybe the truck hit one heck of a curb or rolled over really fast and that helped fling thing the bike upwards?  Would be fun to animate the event

Amazing Thailand.... where anything can happen. One often sees things flying off poorly laden trucks but this.... Somchai has excelled himself.

perhaps the kids are now wanting to go with the rage from 10 years ago.

 

Perhaps that was just a prototype and now they have a better version

with radar for tangling wires built in.

This streamlined tailwinged model comes with air cooled brakes and room for a skinny flight attendant,

along with storage room for makeup.

Another result of driving and loading a pickup with zero skills.

How about a strong rope to secure the bike to the pickup.

Is safety to much to ask Thai drivers?
