Do people actually live like this? Paying your 'wife' over 20k a month?

What are you actually getting out of this deal? I sure hope the sex is good.

Ha! That made me laugh.

I simply never understand why anyone would give these girls even a single cent.

Unless she's a cripple, tell her to get off her fat arse and get a job. And if she's unwilling to work, dump her.

If she was used to get a couple of thousand THB for a night of work the question is if she is willing to work for 300B for the whole day. And if she decides to work at night for the big money then maybe hubby won't be exited about that.

No, don't worry.

If it would have been her husband you can be sure he would have insisted that she (you!) pay for the hotel.

Hm, not so sure, could be another falang kik. But ok to share the cost. No problem

You might be onto something there.  As she unpacked her case in the bedroom, she was being evasive, like she didn't want me to see something.  I pushed in and found THIS!

Her dirty laundry smelled of frying oil and malt vinegar, and there was salt and bits of newspaper in the back seat of the Fortuner.

I'm a Yank.  Should I be worried?

Outrageous.  Next month she'll only get 49,875 Baht allowance.  I'm fed up.

Now I'm suspicious.  The thumb drive in the Fortuner's USB media slot is different.  It usually has Thai and American music.  So I turned the key on and this song started playing.

What the ?????!?!?!?

and of course beer and other drinks for the family.

??? why does it have to be beer? A few bottles of coke or such isn't expensive.

Lao Khao is the preferred drug in Isaan, and it's cheap.

My wife is returning to her families for about 3 days and after handing over 8k i was not given a thank you, just a rolling over with the eyes.

"My wife is returning to her families..."

B8,000 for multiple families is not very much, no wonder she sneered at you.

To be fair, OP also gives her 20K/month for her personal spendings.

Some of us don't want that she works - especially the kind of work which she would get with her limited education.

Some call it luxury wife, personally I think it's just normal that the guy works and makes money and she takes care of the home.

Personally I prefer to stay with a girl who spends most of her time with me or at our home. If she would have a normal job she would be at least 8h a day away from home working. If that would be the case could I expect that they cleans and cooks before and after her work? Or should I do that myself?

No, I am no fan of cleaning and cooking...

And about beer or coke? She could give everybody a bottle of water and maybe a little rice. They would survive. But is that the way to treat your relatives or friends?

If she works 8 hrs a day why would you not do at very least half the household chores??

If she went to work perhaps she could be bringing interesting conversation to the dinner table with you

GREAT POINT!!!  What is so amazing that you can't do, find somewhere else, or have another woman do it cheaper with more respect?  You are allowed to leave....it is possible...you and everything else will be ok.  Nothing will blow up or die...life will proceed with or without you (and me)...

Soooooo, it's the OP's responsibility to pay for all 20 people at the BBQ? :cheesy:

It's not his job to feed the extended family, nor is it his responsibility to give his wife that much spending money. She can go get a job if she wants her own money.

The only people "wrong" on here are the ones that think they have to bribe their wives to live with them, IMO.

Yes, it is. You typoed with the rofl gif.

"It's not his job to feed the extended family, nor is it his responsibility to give his wife that much spending money."

Yes it is. We are in Thailand not in gods own country.

"She can go get a job if she wants her own money." She probably has one, what has that to do with giving her 8k extra for a trip home?

True ... but that was not the topic, or was it?
