BREAKING: Prime Minister used Article 44 powers to sack and rein in Big Joke

The Thai social media idea of him looking too close into the election doesn't really seem logical considering he is best mates with the Ass PM.

Look at the timing of everything. For coalition governments to be formed sometimes certain demands have to be met.

Sorry to post in again here, but thought this would be useful to get a wider scope on art. 44 and when and why it is used. ????

Article 44. In the case where the Head of the National Council for Peace and Order is of the opinion that it is necessary for the benefit of reform in any field and to strengthen public unity and harmony, or for the prevention, disruption or suppression of any act which undermines public peace and order or national security, the Monarchy, national economics or administration of State affairs, whether that act emerges inside or outside the Kingdom, the Head of the National Council for Peace and Order shall have the powers to make any order to disrupt or suppress regardless of the legislative, executive or judicial force of that order. In this case, that order, act or any performance in accordance with that order is deemed to be legal, constitutional and conclusive, and it shall be reported to the National Legislative Assembly and the Prime Minister without delay.

[Excerpts from 2014 Interim Thai Constitution- Unofficial Translation]

Article 44 grants the Head of NCPO power to give any order deemed necessary for “the benefit of reform in any field and to strengthen public unity and harmony, or for the prevention, disruption or suppression of any act which undermines public unity and harmony, or for the prevention, disruption or suppression of any act which undermines public peace and order or national security, the Monarchy, national economics or administration of State affairs …,” and provides that any such order “…is deemed to be legal, constitutional and conclusive…”

Does this mean we can go back to our agents and let the corruption do it's work so everyone can be happy happy?

Sure, just wait to immigration had their never ending tradition of monthly change of rules & regulations.

And even better for all expats in Thailand, none of you have to 'suffer' and join us expats in Philippines or Cambodia.

Oooopppsss: curruption just took a jump, now it's 50.000 baht that agents reguire, to fix your case.

Hope you all still happy happy.

First job to introduce democracy to Thailand would be to reinvent the Army as guardians of national security taking orders from a freely elected Government. This would involve them relinquishing all business interests including directorships.

Second job would be to cleanse the police, recreating them as protectors of life and property and servants of the people, free from political interference. No business interests for them either.

Both jobs would need substantial pay rises to make corruption unnecessary and easily punished.

Otherwise the cycle of coups and repressive governments with noses in the trough will continue forever.

More likely they disliked him because he cut out many of the possibilities they used to have to receive envelopes.

I like the guy and what he did, and I think it's a shame he's gone. Thailand needs 1000 more just like him.

Just wondering if Khun Thanathorn became prime minister:

If the details of things like this would automatically get a public airing as a matter of policy to observe democratic principles - the right of the public to be fully informed.

And whether some things like this would automatically be reviewed by an appropriate committee, mostly made up of respected civilians.

One can dream, hope, pray for valuable change...

A man sitting at the back of a high powered meeting, still in uniform with rank on his epaulettes despite being stripped of all rank, murmuring into his phone with his mouth covered in front of his superiors and no name board in front of him is usually there because he wants to be.

So the Joke is not so funny now, he may yet have the last laugh. There is something very odd about his presence at this meeting.

The big question for us Farang is, who will replace him?
