Will27
Luke Parker has signed a 5 year extension contract. His new contract expires in 2021. Good news for the Swans. http://www.sydneyswans.com.au/news/2016-01-22/luke-parks-long-term Yep. Future Brownlow winners Dan Hannebery and Luke Parker locked away for 5 years. Has Parker played since breaking his leg? No he hasn't, but he has been training okay from reports http://www.sydneyswans.com.au/news/2015-12-15/parker-returns-to-full-training Swans midfielder Luke Parker has returned to full-intensity training for the first time since fracturing his ankle and sitting out this year’s finals series. The 23-year-old was eased back into pre-season initially, focusing on “getting the miles back in the legs”, but has increased his workload over the past two weeks and has all but fully recovered from the injury suffered in Round 20 against Collingwood. An in-season operation, which involved inserting a 20cm rod to fuse the three-way fracture back together, sidelined Parker for the rest of the season including the qualifying final against Fremantle and semi-final against North Melbourne. Ron19
This is becoming a farce ST KILDA has joined Port Adelaide in exploring the option of adding a top-up player to its list after coming to terms with the loss of banned recruit Jake Carlisle for the 2016 season. The Saints can promote a rookie to replace Carlisle, but the AFL has not given them permission to recruit a new player to complete their list. The Power are pushing the League to grant them top-up players to replace banned pair Paddy Ryder and Angus Monfries, given their lack of depth in the ruck following the Court of Arbitration for Sport's ruling against the Essendon 34. The club lodged a submission to the AFL late this week and is waiting for a response. AFL.com.au understands the Western Bulldogs are also lobbying to replace banned forward Stewart Crameri if he does not challenge his suspension at the Swiss Federal Tribunal. Bulldogs president Peter Gordon suggested on Friday morning "there well could be" an appeal against the CAS decision from Crameri and Bulldogs VFL player Brent Prismall. St Kilda would not be certain to take up the option of signing a top-up player, but it is understood the club is keen to have the option. It is not yet clear if Melbourne will seek the option of adding a top-up player to its list to replace banned recruit Jake Melksham. Essendon has been granted the option of signing up to 10 top-up players – and promoting five rookies to its senior list – after 12 Bombers were banned for the 2016 season.

Popular Post farmerjo
In hindsight, there should be no top-ups. All those years ago when Justin Charles from Richmond got done, there was no compassion from the AFL. Personally i think Essendon are lucky to still be in the league.
joboss
Essendon not in the league..?? After reading your recent post fj, I had never considered that scenario. No Bombers?,, No Dons?,, No red & black? I am in shock. Very shocked.. Time to self medicate.

Yep will be interesting, why my view is the way it is.Is because it looks like the bombers are topping up with experienced guys(dont blame them for that) If they get 12 guys with average experience of 150 games and add in who they have left at an average of say 60 games. That's a team running on the park with nearly a average of 110 games. Premiership material.

Woosha is a great placement as coach. Has experience with dealing with perceived and real drug cultures so knows how to answer stupid media throw out questions. Understands about the commitment to train hard and the value of a well timed hit. Older team members will align with that. I think men of 26+ are a lot “harder” than men of 24-. Pharmacist and I am sure his acclimated knowledge of sports medicine is comprehensive. Will know when to rest a player and know when to encourage and push. Knows the thrill and value of a holding a Premiership Cup. Loves an fast open game of footy. Can’t wait!

Just speculation from someone that is "over the hill" himself. Talking up my $20 and $10 spec bets for my own benefit. Really got no clues about who is going to be on the upper rungs of the ladder at finals time, So just passing the time on a Saturday afternoon. Maybe on the other side of Windy Hill there is a pleasant breeze.
farmerjo
Most players play there best footy in the late 20's,early 30's. You could do a lot worse than Leunberger,Crowely,Kelly and Goddard moving through the midfield with Jamar,Simkin,Stokes and Bird. Ok,time for a beer. Better get all this out of my head before the tipping starts. Edited January 23, 2016 by farmerjo

This time of the year the winds are warm in Melbourne, and there torn the high fences down around windy hill, think they still have a presence there at least with social club and offices they moved the training out to industrial Tullamarine where the winds will be a lot colder this coming winter, nice flat industrial landscape.

AlexRRR
Only once, Goodes won't put on a red and black jumper, only Crowley and Kelly from that group, the rest are over it even those two just make it because they were quality to start with. The Hawks model works because most of there players are a cut above most of everyone else's, my point is, you will get some good games out of these guys but will it be all at the same time? There all at the wrong end of there career to expect be 100% effective, and new coach new club and new game plan, maximin 5 wins for the season which means they Finnish 17th or 18th because at least 16 clubs will have got better one stays the same and the bombers go down.
AlexRRR
I noticed you left out Jamar, don't know why we kept him so long, understudy to white early on only ever had one good season, was looking to join them red and blacks as a ruck coach....me thinks that's funny.
