PHUKET: Phuket Provincial Police Deputy Commander Col Pakin Na Ranong has made it plain that his officers will be cracking down on drunk drivers over the Songkran Thai New Year holidays, including filing murder charges against drunk drivers deemed responsible for accidents resulting in death.

Col Pakin explained that move to use murder charges against drunk drivers involved in fatal accidents follows Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon announcing the policy shift in Bangkok last Friday (Apr 5).

The order is to be in effect during the Seven Days of Danger national road-safety campaign from aprill 11-17.

ok i agree with it, but they are stopping people in the towns, ok a few drunk scooter riders, but they are killing each other out in the sticks, not in the dam town centres

Out in the stix is too large a target area to get the same results using the same resources. Also if the target is to catch XYZ number of drivers, then they will opt for the easiest route to reach their target.
