PHUKET: Police are continuing their hunt for American American Chad Elwartowski, 46, and his Thai partner Supranee Thepdet, who as of yesterday had been tracked to the southern island of Tarutao, on the Malaysian border, police have confirmed.

Phuket Provincial Police Chief Maj Gen Wisarn Phanmanee told a press conference late yesterday (Apr 23) that the couple had been tracked to Tarutao by a mobile phone signal. “But the phone has now been switched off,” he said.

Gen Wisarn made no comment on whether Malaysian authorities had been contacted to assist with apprehending the couple, who are now wanted under arrest warrants for breach of Section 119 of the Criminal Code, he explained.

Would love to see Thai navy apply this sort of dogged determination in tracking down human trafficking down south into Malaysia of Rohingya, slave working conditions on fishing boats, exploding and/or sinking tourist boats.

General Wisharn said, we will use every means possible to apprehend those 2 dastardly criminals.:cheesy:

We have already involved 300 navy personnel, and every policeman in the country will be used if required, bloody pathetic.

Maybe they will come across the Red Bull fugitive?????

"The couple are wanted for their involvement in the construction and installation of a “seastead” some 42km south of Phuket – a claim that the couple have repeatedly denied"

So Living on the seastead was not illegal - only the construction and installation?  Weird

A cat and mouse game is afoot.  If the Thai government fails to catch them, there will be huge humiliation and movie offers for mice in the millions of dollars.  They can start their own crypto currency.

What they did was a bit naive and foolish, but either way the junta will look very very bad.

Death Penalty has already taken out. The maximum penalty will be Jail times.

Do you have a source for that?

April 24 - Thailand tows bitcoin trader’s floating home; owners may face death sentence

If the junta did say there'll be no death penalty, is it worth the risk for the accused to believe it?

Maybe planning a boat trip out in international water and then hiding somewhere in Malaysia, or asking for help from one of the US embassies in SE Asia.  Sounds like a good idea to avoid any contact with Thailand.

I see only one way to catch those "hard core" individuals....bring back Big Joke and in 1 or 2 raids he will catch them in some seedy area of Nana ????

And yet..."The office's (Public Prosecutor's Office) representatives are necessary because the alleged crime took place outside Thailand's territory." [Copied from The Nation report a few days ago].

If outside Thai territorial waters why are they being sought for any crime? ???? ????

Has the RTP got nothing better to do e.g. catching real criminals?

I'll refrain from further sarcastic and scathing comments that easily spring to mind. ????
