Very quiet, my wife says takes time to arrange land purchase but I don't know if that is the reason.

There has been an election, OK wont make nay difference to who is in power but could it derail infrastructure plans?

I suspect it will be similar to the rail project, high speed rail link to Chiang Mai???

Maybe the new airport will enable flying pigs to land.

I was under the impression the land had already been purchased years ago.

When you have been swept up in all those other fake stories over the years you tend to take everything with a pinch of salt

"New cable car plans to Doi Suthep"

"Tram system to Chiang Mai nears approval"

"high speed rail link to Bangkok now priority"

"new passenger terminal now desperate at CNX"

"Promenada shopping mall will be a world beater"

"Immigration rules and regulations scrapped"

It was officially approved a few months ago according to the media.  I suspect a lot of land procuration, flattening, etc. will be the first order of the day.  One could always take a drive-by and have a looksee ????

It means what?  The initiation of planning?  The purchase of land? The construction contracts?  The idea of a new airport someplace in CM?

Its all Taksin's fault. When in power he arranged that Lanna Thais got their fair share of government spending. Now the Junta is taking it back

In all seriousness, you will not be flying out of a new airport here in your lifetime.

The timeline would go something like this:

Red tape and politics...10-20years

Build a single terminal intl airport 2-3yrs

Second terminal 5yrs

Delays due to budget cock ups 2yrs

Delays due to contract overruns 2yrs

So starting on site tomorrow say 7yrs, but realistically its a rolling 30yrs lead in.

Okay, I get it. How about is there any new development going in around San Khampaeng in expectation of the new airport?

I think I have seen a large signboard go up saying

"No Grab Taxi"

They don't need another airport, but they do need a proper car park building.

Domestic air travel is not good anyway- causes too much pollution of the upper atmosphere. High speed trains are the way to go, but I guess that's a lost hope in LOS.
