Why Yasothon man's electricity bill was seven times more expensive in March than April

The electrical authorities in Yasothon in Thailand's north-east have got to the bottom of why a man had to pay more than 27,000 baht for his electricity in March compared to April's 3,867 baht bill.

Someone had tapped into his supply from an old meter.

Evidence in the form of black tape revealed that the lines had been tampered with outside a block of flats housing health department workers.

It appears that a festival was going on in March and someone helped themselves to the man's electricity and left him with the bill, reported Thai Rath.

And what now, how is he gonna get that money back?  bit too early to laugh.

it is theft - the police should be involved

Nice of them to tape the splice back up.

When the new meter was installed, the old one should have been taken away in the first place.

Especially as there is normally a hefty "deposit" you can get back - mine is 6k baht.

Because the EC was in charge....

Jokes aside, I'm just so glad they got to the bottom of it.

How do you do a hot tap?  Use rubber gloves and boots?  1 hand? Rubber handled tools?

High voltage tool kit and very carefully, most ships & offshore units carry a set of tools "just in case" never saw then used in forty years.
