Krabi: Newborn baby boy left in a washing machine

A Krabi woman thought she heard the sound of a cat when she returned from a daytime trip to Pangnga yesterday.

Saengdeuan Khaoruang, 47, had locked up her house in Soi Wat Tham Seaua and left her five coin-op washing machines out front for customers to use.

On closer inspection the sound was not a cat - she looked in the middle one of five machines and found a newborn baby boy on a cloth by a nearly full bottle of milk.

The authorities were called and the boy was taken to Krabi Hospital and thence into the care of the Krabi Children's Home.

It was thought that the boy had been born that day - he still had the umbilical cord attached.

Police are working on the assumption that the mother gave birth and was unable to support her child and wanted to leave it to someone else to find.

Investigations are underway.

A mother giving birth outside of hospital care, what happened to the family or friends?

Not even going to ask about the father!!!

If you are going to dump a baby then a public washing machine isn’t too bad a place. Nice touch leaving the milk.

Safe from creatures, ants, soi dogs etc.

Last week in Chonburi one was dumped near the bins covered in ants.

Not an ideal situation, but I am sure if you ask the kid he will be happy that he was dumped and not aborted.
