Chamnarn Chuthiang, director of the Phitsanulok Irrigation Office, said the Wat Bote district was declared the drought disaster zone so that the provincial administration could bypass the government in allocating a budget to help villagers. He said officials were surveying the damage to farms, especially those who grew cassavas, so that help could be rushed to them. Chamnarn said water at the Kwae Noi Bamrung Daen Dam had dropped to just 233.60 million cubic meters or about 24.88 per cent of its capacity. He said the low-water level affected some 17,000 rai of cassava plantations in the district. May 10, 20196 yr Plant some trees and the rain will return. This year the humidity was very low as a result and will only get lower, which means less chance for rain.

OTOH of the cassava plantations around here are rain fed. The main klong from Mae Wong is almost dry and the government water now comes from the government borehole. It is not as dry as it was a few years ago but the lack of rainfall last year and this year means that the borehole will soon be struggling.
