They want retirees to come—and they're making it worth your while. A special incentive program designed to woo retirees offers qualified folks discounts like 50% off on entertainment like movies, concerts, and theater. You get 30% off on bus, boat, and train fares, and 25% off on airfares (including international ones). You save 15% on hospital bills and that much or more on dental and medical visits…and the list goes on.

Plus you're offered tax incentives as well—yet another way to save on top of the already-low cost of living.

Plus, the bar is pretty low to qualify for all these benefits. You need to show you have at least $1,000 a month to support yourself, but that's just about it.

Panama...the number one retirement country for 2019...according to international living...

There is an existing topic about expats considering moving to Latin America. Panama is one of a number of popular destinations there. The offers from their government are real. International Living is controversial for highlighting mostly the positive aspects of destinations, selling overpriced seminars, and pushing real estate sales. But they are not a worthless company if you take them with that realization.

What, no compulsory health insurance..

Wow

No but if you're looking for that technically Colombia has a policy that all residents are required to enroll in their national health program. Even foreigners. All are accepted regardless of age or health history. If you're under about age 62 you may also apply for private coverage as an add on which is of course better but not required.

Yes, if it's not hot enough for you here, go to Panama...

Panama has beaches and mountains...a short distance from one another...not difficult to beat the heat!

This topic which appears to be about the attractiveness of Panama as an expat destination and also the credibility of the International Living company seems to be a SUBSET of this already existing and active thread. Panama and international living discussions have already happened there and fit in there perfectly --

Thank you! That is a massive thread and does not need to be relived...

Mention of International living was merely to give reference to who gave Panama 1st place among retirement destinations..
