tgeezer Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I would like to know which courses have dual pricing, so that I know where not to go. I don't mind if this turns in to a "cheap charly' accusatory type thread. I know that there are many golfers who like to show how much money they have from the BMW, Merc, car parking at the courses, but they are not above taking advantage of the fact that they are Thai.
bendix Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 I've played at around a dozen courses in Bangkok, Hua Hin and Pattaya and never come across dual pricing. What's the basis for your question? Is it something you've seen already, or only suspect exists?

Pinehurst engages in dual pricing
Prudent_rabbit Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Windsor Park, 900 baht for Thai, 1500 baht for farang, even though they say on their website "Special Promotion 900 baht". Then try and speak to the manager he is always away on holiday, shame really as its a nice course
tgeezer Posted March 14, 2007 Author Posted March 14, 2007 I've played at around a dozen courses in Bangkok, Hua Hin and Pattaya and never come across dual pricing. What's the basis for your question? Is it something you've seen already, or only suspect exists? A freind of mine told me of a new course near Bangsai not yet open but he played it, and he told me they have dual pricing. I was incensed because it is a new course and apart form the Army at Ram Indra where they have a good excuse with so many ex-military I have never come across it. Simple cheating you have to put up with but an open declaration should be resisted I believe.
Lucifer Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Dual pricing. Nothing wrong with it. It's just a mild form of communism.
Jim's_a_Thai_Fox Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Hi, Never remember having come across dual pricing before, but then again, I've played Pinehurst in Pathum Thani/Nontaburi 4 times now.... 'Jackndanny' says that they have dual pricing... so, mai roo. Sorry to be of no help.
thaihome Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Bangkok Sports Club engages in discrimination as members cannot bring Thai's as guest, but farangs are ok. TH
curber Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 I`ve played quite a few courses in Thailand and have yet to come across dual pricing.....I play with a Thai friend most of the time and we always pay the same, this policy does not extend to the small restaurants...when Thai friends are with us the bin is substantially lower than when I am with farangs
202marcellus Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 There is definitely dual pricing on some courses in Thailand. Last month in Korat I went to the Korat country club and they have dual pricing listed for everyone to see.
202marcellus Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Dual pricing. Nothing wrong with it.It's just a mild form of communism. If that were the case then they should charge wealthy Thais the higher price also.
xbusman Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 Over the past few years I have been fortunate enough to play with Thai groups and long long long term expats who are fluent. I have come to the general conclusion that with few exceptions every course in the Bangkok/Pattaya region have dual pricing. Sometimes I get the Thai price, sometimes I get rakaa farang. In the end, I want to play and either price is a great deal for what your getting. If I get the Thai price, so much the better. TIT
jumnien Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 The golfing in Cambodia is far more expensive. Don't get your panties in a titter and try moving there!

TIT Are you sure they are not just showing a discount card you didn't see? In many years in many courses I haven't seen dual pricing. I have seen various discount cards I wished I had at the time. TH
BossHogg Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 many Thais recieve a green fee discount through work. This is very common .Especially if its a major company such as TOT etc...its a perk of the job
p_brownstone Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 Bangkok Sports Club engages in discrimination as members cannot bring Thai's as guest, but farangs are ok.TH Not quite correct. Rule 3.3 of the Bye-laws of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club states: Persons living in Thailand, irrespective of official resident status may not be introduced as guests except to luncheon .... or to Racing........ In other words Residents of Thailand - whether Thai or Farang - may not be introduced as Guests; and this applies to all Sports facilities in the Club, not just Golf. Patrick
leemond Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 I believe you can take advantage of the Thai pricing policy if you to can make up a cosy 7 ball, drop all attempts at etiquette and play like a cheating t w a t!

Old Man River Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Dual pricing normally happens at golf courses when they have special promotions. You see the quoted price and pay that, but Thai's get the promotion price. If the course does not have a special promotion, everyone pays the same.
