Man nabbed for growing marijuana has no idea where ‘ice’ came from

The assistant to a village headman in Loei’s Na Haeo district was arrested on Monday morning for growing marijuana illegally and having 65 grams of crystal meth or “ice” in his possession.

 

Surat Kulsiri, 40, assistant headman of Ban Kliang, said he was growing cannabis to help treat his bed-ridden mother who suffers from many ailments.

 

He claimed this mother’s condition had improved markedly, to a point where she could walk again, thanks to a marijuana-based concoction he made for her daily. However, he said he had nothing to do with the “ice” and has no idea where it came from. 

 

Police seized one-metre-high marijuana plants, 40 saplings, five bags of marijuana seeds and 65g of “ice” from the suspect’s house. 

 

Since marijuana is still a prohibited narcotic under Thai law, it is only allowed to be grown for medical research or used for treatment under strict criteria.

Patients who need marijuana or who had already been using the herb were given until the end of May this year to register with the authorities.

Why would he have any idea it came from since lies telling here is a daily cup of tea to excape from crimes.

It was 'planted' (but didn't grow).

most probably police see that with 1 plant of cannabis they were going nowhere so planted the ice on him...

but still Class 5 and not a big problem for a Thai national. The "Ice" is class 1 and will put him in prison for 2 years or more.

He had 90 days to apply for amnesty and he could have grown plants legally. ????
