My husband has four lots of different unrelated, cancer, have spent very substantial money on  major surgery and chemo, etc etc, many hospitals, currently six consultants/specialists, we are  in and out of hospital 3/5 times a month, we self pay

 

We are exceedingly grateful for what has been done, and my husband considers it  far better than the UK NHS at very affordable cost, an option open to him that he says he will not do.

 

A large amount of recovery can be linked to a positive attitude, and gratitude we believe

In other words you are saying we are able to pay so deserve to stay he is poor and so deserves to go home - sounds like pure snobbery.

He is fighting to be charged the same as Thais, which I am guessing is more important than the amount of money involved. I doubt a private hospital will do anything for the sums quoted so if it is a government hospital I would expect foreigners to pay extra but he may be a resident and pay taxes so could be eligible for the same rates as Thais. This would mean he is being charged extra just because of his race. Have you not also considered that, to him, this is his home.

How would you feel if your husbands fees were 6 times higher and no longer affordable, just because he is not Thai? Would you not want to make a stand and be angry when someone with more money told him to just go home?

Maybe Thailand could bring in new laws to force wealthy Farangs to subsidise poorer Farangs. That way we can all be treated equally.

Not having to worry about how to pay hospital bills and being able to afford the best treatment greatly enhances your positive attitude and gives you something to be grateful for. Try putting yourself in his position and think how your comments would make you feel.

Why isn't he back in his own country, working and getting proper treatment. 

 

 

The last time I went for basic treatment in the West it was 60 pounds just to talk with them for 5 minutes. Any treatment and medicine a lot more. Just as well I don't tend to goats for a living.

it's certainly not a bad thing if the matter runs through the courts.

even if the crooks won't be punished, it will set a precedent and people with the same problem will have a court ruling to support their case.

 

I wonder how much it would have cost him in the Netherlands ? Good on him for standing up for the 300b charge, for a government Doctor, as I do think that they are about 50, ... but tests are more, ..and Pills even More. ... Though still very reasonable when compared with just about any where else in the world, with as good a health system as this one.

 

He should just have taken the compensation and called it a day .... Like things have a habit of coming around and biting you on the ass here !!! ... Better to have taken the Compensation.
