Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha announced, during his policy statement presentation, that he will personally take charge of the Royal Police Office and will reform the police force as priority.

Police reform has always been a priority for civic groups and pro-democracy movements. It was promised by the previous Prayut government five years ago, but nothing concrete has taken place as the government lacked the political will and courage to reform the police force.

In the policy statement, the Prime Minister pledged to undertake the reforms, including organizational restructuring, personnel and amendments to related laws, to make the police force more accountable and trusted by the people.

It doesn't really matter what number you dial, nobody will pick the phone up.

  • Not too sure how he is planning to achieve that without the section 44 in his back pocket .   police already do not take him seriously , now this is going to be fun to watch

better, if he oversee army reform, that means withdrawing from politics. That's the main reason for all social, political and economic ills

The micro manager is at it again! This is a sure sign that nothing will happen.

Or get worse, as has everything else this clown has touched. Pathetic. He's trying to make sure that he controls all of the governmental organs of violence; the military, the police. Guess who he's going to use them against! ????

Didn't our glorious leader claim he was going to do this before, in what seems like a lifetime ago now?

It was only four years ago he said that 911 would become the new national emergency number:

From the link below:

Thailand will soon have the national emergency number 911 as a universal hotline number.

"A committee chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will oversee the operation of the 911 emergency calls."

I thought they only had been making a 20 year plan for the country. Not a 100 year.

I don't disagree with you there. My in-laws have twice called 191 during the night and twice it wasn't answered.

At least everyone will be able to remember the new number which can ignore them, irrespective of nationality - Thai or otherwise.

He must have seen it on youtube.

Understand that we live in a Police State, but bored to see every days these uniforms and medals.

I thought those 'medals' were marzipan, to be eaten in case of a national somtam shortage?

You silly boy, he had a plane take him there????

for the first time in his life he realised planes can also fly straight instead of in circles

Is that true? Thai will get US work visas to be Thai language teachers? I'll petition US Immigration to implement 80 day reporting. Payback time.

Look what he did for army and representative government in Thailand.  Expect greater harassment by them and less protection from them.

No fun. Nothing to watch because it's just all talk.

As others have said I am pretty sure this was said before by him, and as usual, I expect absolutely nothing to happen.

Dunno, we could have a sweepstake on how long it will take to raise a hot air balloon.

Someone has got to ring the bell first to wake them all up ????

Said the same 5 years ago and did nothing.

Saying the same now and will still do nothing

Does he seriously think that these armed bandits are going to give up this massive cash cow ????

Never gonna happen. Never. ????

This is the inactive force..!!!

The police have a lot of power in this country....maybe more than the great leader!

The unqualified, overseeing the unprofessional, serving the unconcerned. Truely the land of "Un".
