webfact
PM to supervise the DSI Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will directly supervise the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) instead of assigning one of his deputies to do it on his behalf, as was the practice in the past, Justice Minister Somsak Thepsuthin said today. By supervising the DSI, he explained that the Prime Minister will oversee the handling of criminal cases by DSI officials which, he said, will enable the DSI to perform its duties more efficiently, faster and with better coordination from other agencies. The Prime Minister, who doubles as the defence minister, also supervises the Royal Thai Police, with more than 230,000 law enforcement officers scattered throughout the country. Does that mean everything has to go through him before it can proceed which to my way of thinking it will slow the process down because of all his other commitments .

bluesofa
Surely, this report is basically no different from the earlier one I just commented on (below), which stated "Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha announced, during his policy statement presentation, that he will personally take charge of the Royal Police Office and will reform the police force", except that now he's going to micro-manage the DSI - and probably gloss over everything else. edit: Sorry, my error. I see now it was a reference to this new improved report, but posted in the earlier one. Edited July 29, 2019 by bluesofa

Hmmm. Not sure the intention is to moderate speed, in either way. More to ensure "correct focus". Don't want them wasting their time on "unnecessary cases"! It was with National pride he managed to reduce Lamyai's twerks from 9 down to 3 and get her to moderate her thrusting pelvic movements and low squatting position; much to the disappointment of her admiring crowds. I tried to think of other PM successes then I remembered in 2016 he laid claim to the benefits of Soviet style micromanagement and declared the junta had put an end to corruption and the drug problem. I wonder if that is when he got his nickname Pinocchio. https://www.ft.com/content/cc2bed94-7b18-11e6-ae24-f193b105145e

Yeah, do you think he will allow himself to be investigated? He who does no wrong, the savior of Thai high society. Thechook
Policing should be totally detached from the government. How on earth will they be able to investigate any corruption if Prayuth can knock it on the head if he doesn't approve of who they may investigate
Number 6
So glad Thailand has a democratically elected political body and an independent legal system free from outside interference. Living under a junta was onerous. Glad we're beyond all that now, had big concerns. #democracy #winning #freedumb 1

Classic Ray
Another of the checks and balances of true democracy missing in the Thai model. Why bother to have Ministers and a Cabinet if you’re in charge of everything yourself?
Srikcir
1 hour ago, bluesofa said: he will personally take charge of the Royal Police Office and will reform the police force As junta chief Prayut oversaw the Royal Police Office for five years. Is his continued direct oversight of the Royal Police as well as DSI an indirect admission that he failed to bring reforms to either? The almost bizarre manner in the way he has formed his cabinet is more an indication of a more authoritarian government (perhaps even to the extent of a fascist government) than a democratic government. jaiyen
So he is charge of the Army, the police, DSI and more. Same as before, He wants to know what everyone is doing to make sure they aren't going after him, or arranging another coup ! When will he have time to run the country ? He must sleep 2 hours a day as he is so busy.
