Please relax a little. It's just a few posts on a not very important forum on the Internet. Our lives and livelihoods are not at stake.

Very patronizing.

Be assured I'm quite relaxed, but some livelihoods can be affected by this drought, and they may be interested in reading about it without the usual deluge (!) of Butlin Camp humor, on what is to you, an unimportant forum.

I agree. Looking like a severe drought unless we have torrential rain Sept and Oct which is statistically possible. Decades of PP water management and vast increase in buildings requiring water supply

  • Isaan is having a major drought? Last night it rained from about 9pm until 10am this morning, and when I say rain, it sounded like someone was hitting the roof of our house with mortars, it was incess

I see for some stupid reason in Chalong the trucks are out washing roads today (no big build ups of sand, no construction nearby)....

Are you sure they're washing the streets? In Rawai I saw them cleaning the road drainage.

Yes, the usual red truck crawling along with 2 guys on the hose washing the street.

Here in Banglamung we have had rain twice in the last week ,the first time just after the wife washed the car and last night just after she watered the lawn . . now if anyone wants to hire her in their province to do either of these chores ,it guarantees rain .????

They seem to need her in Phuket.

Thanks LiK. Both my desk-top and lap-top computers were doing the same thing. Deleted the bookmark and then made a new one. All good now.

Massive storm here in Kathu, transformers popping everywhere. Was it forecast?

Stay safe out there!

That was a helleva storm. Laid down a few power poles, but electric still on. Shazam

????

Still no electric at our place. Sitting with candles and sweat dripping off my nose : (

Is it over  or are they expecting more?

Our electric full power at 19.00. Look at what is next. Worse I would say.

None of it hit the dams. Chalong dam is lower by eye. I'll have to check the pole tomorrow.

3 months out from high season. Going to need a miracle.

  • 4 weeks later...

What fell just now should help. Road completely flooded, water almost in the shops and houses here in Kata.

Isaan.

Last night I drove by a flooded school and a house built in a rice field below road level was flooded to the top of the front door.

Loads of roads closed.

Issan is also experiencing a major drought.

4 months to go before the official high season kicks off again.  last high season the Island ran out of water. Next one will be even worse.

Every bit helps.

Has anyone been to Bang Wad lately? I am assuming it is still little more than a muddy pond?

Was there last week, it's a bit higher than the previous month, still a long way to go though.

Chalong dam is not even close to 30% full and were nearly a month out from the official "high season" (Nov 1st)

We're going to need some record breaking rain to avoid it.

Get yourself some water tanks and start collecting the rain yourselves.

It's going to be a dry high season with water trucks speeding the streets.
