Varawut Silpa-archa

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Varawut Silpa-archa on Friday expressed confidence that Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha would survive the political storm surrounding his oath-taking ceremony.

During his first official meeting with heads of government agencies on Thursday, Prayut apologised to his Cabinet members over the oath wording and said he would take sole responsibility.

Prayut’s move was seen as a tacit admittance that he had failed to complete the oath wording as required by the constitution. His opponents said he failed to say during the oath taking that he would protect and comply with the charter.

Varawut said he is not worried about the issue “because the prime minister will survive this storm and the government boat will survive the storm.

“This government doesn’t depend on a particular minister but all rowers must row in the same direction. If the captain steering the boat survives, we all will.”

Speaking about the announcement by five micro coalition partners that they would function as independent opposition parties, Varawut said there was probably a misunderstanding.

Thai Civilized Party leader Mongkolkit Suksintharanonn announced Thursday that his and four other micro parties would pull out of the coalition out of dissatisfaction that they were being ignored by the coalition leaders. Each of the micro parties has one House seat.

There is absolutely no doubt about that.

"Rats fleeing a sinking ship" comes to mind!

at least the TITANIC did set sail    albeit an ill fated journey  so more than one similarity there

Most on this forum are surprised he can tie his own shoe laces.

I am sure I lost an IQ point reading that.

Not sure what AURVIVE oath reading" is but I'm sure he will.....

The Silpa-Arch family should be familiar with surviving by being a slippery eel and prostrating to the military.

does that mean the old pirate won't walk the plank?

Can you say this with a motorcycle as metaphor?

You know: 6 people on the bike, no helmets, going the wrong way, speeding, cutting, brandishing guns, brake failure, modified muffler noise, insects stuck in teeth, etc

And so it begins...

Clearly this wasn't an oversight or he could simply have retaken the oath. That there is no talk of this can only mean it was deliberate.

He has always done what he damned well pleased. Who pays for all the medals and uniforms & what are the poor supposed to survive on?

Prayut said he will take full responsibility !! How can he not ?  He was the one talking, nobody else and he can't pass the blame on this mess

Spellcheck would help webfact on two headings.. Originally I thought it was a The Nation typo, they wrote the article, but no, was admin.. Aurvive isn't Survive.. It makes a mockery of our English language..

Sure, the demented muppet will survive this, but he will have lost lots of respect from friends and foes alike.
