I've always maintained that "lubrication" is the key to happiness.

I suppose at your age, you will take it any way that you can get it! ????

A bomb detection device that cost a huge amount of money was shown to be a fake.

What! I think not, such an error would never be made.

it could be removed but it would need to be broken creating a signal to that affect to alert the authorities to take action.

"What that beeping sound from computer?"

"Not sure. Maybe I lose at poker."

A different perspective (August 7, 2019):

https://thethaiger.com/hot-news/crime/ministry-probes-rented-electronic-monitoring-ankle-bracelets-from-china

  • The Thai Justice Ministry is investigating the electronic monitoring ankle bracelets rented by the Department of Probation from a Chinese company. A Thai company has complained that the device can be removed by the offenders wearing them without the department being alerted.
  • Thai PBS reports that the complaint was filed by Aekkaphol Kongphutorn, representative of Fort Corporation, one of the bidders for a contract to rent EM ankle bracelets to the Department of Probation. The complaint has already been received by Justice Department officials.

... after witnessing a test on an underling that showed the bracelet could easily be taken off.

Got to love the terminology that they use in these reports like this as if it's a slave in some evil monster's fiefdom. Maybe next time they'll use peon or minion

The R&D involved in altering a novelty golf ball finder to become the GT200 bomb detector must have taken many, many days - well, both days anyway (including the time on the golf course).

Comforting to know they are removable for when it becomes compulsory for all long stay aliens to wear them in the future!

Don't give em ideas for gawd's sake, though I'm sure that has been mooted.

Regards crims, just bung the thing around their neck. ????
