sounds like you, as so many before, have been 'burned' by having skin in the game.

Maybe that's why you're so pessimistic?

Never had a property, business, or Thai girl friend.  Never sent money for a sick buffalo.  I have nothing I can't walk away from and head straight to the airport, should I ever need to, or want to.

I suppose you found optimism in the shut down of the world's economy due to covid, and now the war in Ukraine, and it's effect on the global economy.

You continually troll and are off topic.

Not necessarily.  You might be keeping it open by injecting your savings into it "hoping" for an improvement "some day".

Over the years I've met several bar owners who did just that...some got lucky, others didn't.

I agree.

Many are propping up "the dream" with their savings, but eventually the money runs out, or they sell at a fire sale, or walk away.

I simply make the point that, just because a business remains open, despite constantly have very little customers, doesn't mean it's viable, let alone successful, and such businesses are destined to close.

Interesting for those that poured a lot of money into new builds.  Eg. The Warehouse, Bling, High Rollers etc.  That's a lot of money to recoup, after expenses, let alone, turn a profit.

Seems to vary depending on what day..... weekends yes. I was out Wednesday night and would not describe it as being busy.

Sometimes I'm out on weekends, sometimes week nights.

For sure weekends are busier, but I would not describe Pattaya as "thriving" "rammed" "packed" or "booming" even on weekends.

In my opinion, Pattaya is not back to 1/10/19 numbers.

Back on topic, 40 million tourists to 3.78 million tourists to date, despite covid restrictions being lifted.

The big bounce back never came.  Some say many are waiting for high season.  We'll find out soon enough.

Yes, not far behind the legalization of cannabis, which you said would NEVER happen

Correct, i'm still surprised about the legalisation of weed, it's brilliant. No doubt you knew it was gonna happen, right?

You've been suggesting for a long time casino's are coming, may i ask where they are - lol.

ps - i've started another thread for you to tell us all when, how, why all the casino's are planned for, i;ll get some popcorn ready for your waffle.

No, I didn't know it was going to happen.

The funny thing was, after it actually happened, you kept banging on how it would never happen, even when it was actually happening, and even after it had happened.  Too funny.  ????

They are at the government feasibility study stage, I believe.

I have always said, "not if, just when" which doesn't state a year, but they are coming, for sure.

They are already way behind Vietnam and Cambodia, who have been offering gambling as a tourist activity for many years.

I have already posted in that thread.  I think it will be moved because you did not specify Pattaya as getting a casino.

Getting back on topic, when casinos arrive, depending on their style, they may cause bar and restaurant closures around them.

Another worthless link that proves nothing:

''will submit a study on the feasibility of bringing casinos, and casino resorts to Thailand''

A lot of chatter in the industry.

A couple more "worthless" links for you to embarrass yourself with even more.

https://www.casino.org/news/thailands-casino-plans-cause-mixed-reactions-among-industry-insiders/

https://www.gamblinginsider.com/news/17386/thailand-takes-first-step-towards-casino-development

"Should the final recommendations of a government committee exploring the possibility of casinos be put into action, there could be up to five venues to start. The details are now under review by the House of Representatives, but still need approval by other government bodies."

So, as of August 2022, it's under review by the House of Representatives.

No doubt newative will be along to say that the 3 nightclubs, 10 restaurants, 5 sports bars, 3 cocktail bars, 4 cafes etc etc inside the casino will have absolutely ZERO effect on surrounding businesses.  ????

You do understand that casinos will be bringing new and extra custom to Pattaya? It isn't a case of "either/or" for those already here.

What were the names of the bars you were in, all the patrons and staff, plus their home address's? Can you also ask for full book keeping for the night you were there.

Thanks.

No idea why you are trolling here.....  you could try being a xxxx somewhere else perhaps. Suffice to say, it was NOT busy!

Still haven't read of a single "favourite bar" that closed in the 160 pages of this thread other than Retox, which is now replaced by a much better Hemmingways

Economically it will have a positive effect on not only surrounding businesses but the city overall by bringing in more customers. You only need to look at how modern day Las Vegas transformed itself through a casino plus entertainment based model to see the benefits it could bring.

Don't expect to, which is why Leaver can only continually deflect, go off topic,  speculate generally about the future rather than produce any compelling current real world evidence of a significant change in the viability of the Pattaya hospitality scene.  No-one denies the odd place will close as per normal.

The casino may be resort style.  I would be surprised if it's not.  That means, everything in house, from salons to massage, from pools to sports bars etc etc.

As I have said before, you have 5 Star resorts here, but step outside your resort and you are in 3rd World infrastructure.  Eg. sidewalks.

People with money to gamble with may simply stay inside the resort, where everything is of a high standard.

Your observations are similar to mine.

In my opinion, the numbers are not back to low season 2019 numbers.

Unless these "resorts" have their own beerbars, karaokes and go-gos the guests will be venturing out and dodgy pavements will not deter them.

No shortage of "in house services" in all the casinos I have been in, all around the world.

Soi Baukhao.

Another on Soi Baukhao.

And another on Soi Baukhao.

Soi LK Metro.

The above is just a snap shot.

Now, there's no possible way any of the above establishments could be one of anyone's favorite place, and, of course, they will all continue to be here, forever, despite being for sale, and being in the the center on the adult nightlife in Pattaya.

They must be selling ion the "booming" "rammed" thriving" "packed" time, in order to get a good price.   ????
