Another tycoon arrested over illegal logging

Featured Replies

Well-known timber tycoon Kong Kroeng was arrested yesterday evening after he was questioned by the National Committee for Forest Crime Prevention over suspected illegal logging activities in Kratie province along the Vietnamese border. He was arrested along with his son-in-law Math Naseat.

On August 6, Mr Kroeng and Mr Naseat were summoned by NCFCP to be questioned after the committee suspected that the duo had been involved in illegal logging.

“We decided to detain them because it’s necessary to our investigation,” Brigadier General Eng Hy, spokesman for the NCFCP, said yesterday. “We are investigating further. Kong Kroeng is the prime suspect.” According to a Facebook post by the National Military Police, Mr Kroeng and Mr Naseat are currently being held at the provincial military police headquarters.
