Seafood In Hua Hin

Afraid I don't eat seafood (sacrilege, huh?) so I couldn't tell you from personal experience. However, there's a big restaurant near the fishing pier (right opposite Buffalo Bill's on Naresdamri Rd) which seems to be very popular. Another place that seems to be popular with locals is Baan Itsara on Naebkahard Rd. There are more touristy places, but both of those seem to be frequented a lot by Thais. Hope that helps.

There are a lot of seafood places downtown...the ones one the pier are ok ...night market has a few ...in my opinion most Thai retaurants overcook seafood...the best I have found in Hua Hin is the "LET`S SEA "restaurant which is toward Khao Takieb just past the Hyatt...it is on the beach, has great seafood (cooked properly)also has the best steak I`ve had in Hua Hin...all round good restaurant..a bit pricey by Thai standards but worth it

Please name the best known spots around the city !!!

Will be heading down there with family in tow and would like to know where the locals chow down on the tasty local catch.

The CHAO LAY restaurant has slick service, cold beer, good seafood and competitive prices. Popular with tourists. Walk down DECHANUCHIT ROAD towards the sea and it's at the end. They will park your car for you.

Baan Itsara on Naebkahard Road would get my vote as one of the all around best. I have lived in Hua Hin for nearly three years and have eaten seafood at many restaurants, most of which are good, but keep going back to Baan Itsara on a regular basis. It is usually busy and has about an 80-20 Thai-foreign clientele, which is a testiment to its quality and consistency. It is also more reasonably priced than many other beach front restaurants.

I have taken nearly everyone who has visited me in Hua Hin to Baan Itsara and they have all loved it.... never a complaint.

Thanks for the tip, went to Let's Sea yesterday - it has beautiful modern architecture. Food was great, but I would not call this a "seafood place". They have seafood, amongst other things. We did enjoy it very much though because they have the most beautiful setting, excellent service, and some of the food was also excellent. Not expensive for the value, we paid Bht 1500 for 2. Even the toilets are beautiful in this place!

A real seafood place with the best crab so far in HH is at the end of takiab beach - the name is in Thai, it's called Blue Crab or Crab Lover or something like that, easy to find at the end of the road take a sharp left, then a right where the cheap-looking eateries are (not tried, they may be excellent), then go straight into the parking lot where the road makes a slight left turn.

I feel like I have to mention this place because the seafood we had there was actually the best in HH so far (and we eat seafood every day, wife loves it). You know a crab is really good when you don't want to put any sauce on it, not even the most excellent Thai seafood sauce, because it's perfect as-is and you don't mess with perfection.

They advertise - in Thai - having the best blue crab, and they deliver on that promise. Not expensive, either. Don't expect great service or great ambiance like Let's Sea - it looks/feels more like any standard Thai restaurant. But the crabs... :o
