On my Lenovo Yoga 520 laptop which can move to a tent position, the screen sometimes cuts out and changes to a square covering the screen of a sort of grey and white stripes, and it cannot be moved unless I turn it off and then back on again, then it is back to normal.

If it is in the tent shape, it will flash a few times then go to the grey and white stripes covering the screen, may I also point out the the sound stays on. and it never goes to the black and grey stripes when I am watching a movie or whatever.

This started a few months ago, and has even went a few weeks without the grey and white stripes covering the screen. The only inconvenience it is giving me is having to turn it off and back on again.

Anyone know what could be causing this?

This is just a guess...you may have an over heating problem...try placing a small fan where it can blow air into your set and see if that solves or improves the problem...????

It might be the cable to your internal screen but there are other possible reasons.

If possible connect an external monitor and look what you see. That should allow you to find out if the internal monitor (including cable to that monitor) is the problem or something else.

I see where you are coming from, but using the fan method would make it very hard to find out if heating has anything to do with the problem.

It can go weeks without these stripes appearing, also, it never happens when I am watching anything.

I was hoping to find out if anyone had the same problem. Thanks for your input.

If it was happening regularly, it would be easier to find out what the problem is, it seems there is nothing I can do unless it packs in completely.
