Fast track entry at Suvarnabhumi on August 26th

Guys,

 

We arrived back from the U.K. on August 26th. I chose to pay and use fast track option. We flew in on two quiet flights with Qatar air, Manchester to Doha and Doha to Bangkok.

 

Fast track worked well for me.

 

I was met from the plane and escorted past my usual immigration entry desks which are usually jammed packed and from what I have heard and read here, even worse to the biometrics issues slowing things down and leading to even greater queues.

 

I paid a little over 2100 baht, (2500 including tips,) for the service which included a limousine taxi to Don Muang as we had a connecting flight. I cleared immigration, my bags were straight off the carousel, nothing from customs and I was out of the airport in my taxi and on my way in 30 minutes flat.

 

I am not saying we can be so lucky all the time, especially with luggage and customs, but I will use the fast track service again. We were in economy class this time.

 

Today, August 28th, we will head to immigration to see if we can get username and password after waiting 2.5 months for them and do the TM30. We phoned to ask if we could go today.

I used to buy 'Premium Lane' blue tickets but last time they were refused as they 'didn't do that anymore' they were about 600 THB each.

I guess most on here know that if you are 70 + you can go through the "official" fast track entrance. For air crews, diplomats, monks & the like. Also available for returning as well as departing. I used at Swampy last Saturday evening. I had to do the fingerprint thing & was on my way in under 5 minutes.

How does one book and prepay for a Fast Track online? To be met at the gate on arrival but only 60+..

Would be interested to know.. And have there been any refused entries, for whatever reason, using this premium service? Maybe the IO is more accommodating.. Wishful thinking though, I am thinking.. ????

I can't tell from experience whether this service works:

It's labeled as limousine service but you can also book arrival service without transportation.

Yes you cannot use this facility if you have ever been fined for overstay or so the advert says.

I used the service that KhunBENQ linked a few days ago (Aug. 25), as I’ve also used them several times in the past when I fly in Premium Economy, which doesn’t include Fast Track. 

 

Totally smooth — was met at the gate as we deplaned, and was escorted to a Fast Track lane that had 0 people in line, despite the fact that regular immigration was overflowing. Was also escorted to baggage claim, through customs and upstairs to the Bangkok Air check-in counter. 

 

Despite the sign at Immigration saying “Show boarding pass and voucher for Fast Track”, I didn’t have to show anything. 

 

1200 baht per person, paid in advance. Print the voucher and show it to the person that meets you at the gate. No ground transportation booked, as we flew out to Samui a couple hours later.

Several companies offer the service. I suggest to Google "fast-track service Bangkok airport "

Then can book and pay online and give flight information. 

 

Have used it before and it worked very well. Won't help with luggage and customs though- just immigration

I use that and also the fast track security, instead of going up the escalator carry on and its on the left.

It does work. Very reliable and efficient.

I have this service booked next month - are you expected to tip? I noticed someone above mentioned they tipped. I won't have any THB on me at the time so just trying to think ahead if it is expected.

Yes, I normally tip them.  When the guy who's taken you through immigration takes your bags to the car that's when I tip him.  And then the driver gets a tip at the end (providing he didn't drive like a t**t - but they don't in my experience).

Just a thought..... if you're arriving from a Western country and you had (say) £5, $5 or €5 you could use that for the tip, if of course, that was the sort of amount you had in mind.

I'm sure someone who works at an airport would find somewhere to exchange it! 

 

A little  but years ago I remember waking up with a particularly lovely "companion" and inviting her for breakfast - which she accepted. When I checked the funds, I said to her "Need to go to the Exchange on the way before I can pay you." She smiled and said something to the effect of "I can change England money for you".......and she knew the rate at the time!

Each to their own but I gave 200 baht to the guy who met me off the plane as he loaded two very heavy bags into the Taxi and the same to the Taxi driver who helped unload at Don Muang and got me a trolley.

 

I don't know is my honest answer on tipping policies for this but 400 baht isn't the end of my world.

Oh, well that makes sense if you used the taxi service. I am not against tipping, I just wanted to know the expectations so I don't look like a jerk. I am just using the service to expedite immigration so sounds like no tip is in order.

Apologies from me if I hadn't made that clear.

 

I fully get you now. If it was purely fast track Immigration, then no tipping required.

 

Let's be honest, you have already paid for that service!
