Why I Am Not Coming Back to Thailand

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

My ED visa was not renewed. They did not bother to even pretend. They said it flat out: we don't want you to stay in Thailand long time.

I could get the Elite visa. Or I could get married and try that way.

But I won't. It isn't worth my time, money, or effort.

I could say that I am leaving Thailand because of the visa situation or because of the strong baht.

But the truth is that I am leaving Thailand because of self-respect. I am tired not just of the government <deleted> (visa situation, TM30...etc.). I am tired of the bad will, of the systematic mistreatment of farangs here, of the hostility. I don't want to live in a country that doesn't want me here... and I will spend as little as I can for the remainder of my time here.

I respect myself too much to bother to stay.

Take care Thailand. I am not coming back. Good luck with your inept and pathetic 'government', your Chinese and Indian 'tourism', your <deleted>ty visa, your TM30s, your scams, your double pricing, your bubble condo market, your 'education' system, your perpetually rising baht, your corruption, your fake smiles.

You have gotten old to me, are no longer amusing, and I am moving on.

It is sad that you can not find yourself in a "good place" here.. Maybe you had way too much hopes on Thailand. And instead of focus on yourself you maybe did it a little bit too much on Thailand.

I arrange for my extension and then I am finished with Thailand, and have nothing to do with them. I spend the remainder of the year with my family and friends, and grow my falang-social-life, and eating good falang-food, and speaking english and swedish of course.

As Robin Hood said in his days "All good in Sherwood-forest"

...and even if I were over 50 and could apply for the retirement visa, I wouldn't at this point...

It isn't worth it. Specifically, Thailand simply isn't worth it.

It is amazing to me what people put up with, and the extent to which they allow themselves to be abused.

Don't let the marshmallow crowd get to you...they will stay here and suck-up to immigration and ignore the obvious hostility while praising Thailand as the best retirement on earth...????

At least it's not self-abuse (as my father used to call it)

mate, as they say, tell someone that cares, for it to be knocked back you obviously did something wrong in your application or previous to applying. We all know what the govt is like and what is required even if we dont agree with it, if you dont follow the rules no one to blame but yourself

I think the above statement came out of a Thai mouth wrong. I don't think it was meant as harsh as it was taken.

Any of us with Thai partners know that this happens easily. We must make an effort to understand what was really meant when it was said awkwardly by someone who is not a life-long English speaker. Hell, if I misinterpreted all the awkward statements my partner has made to me, we'd be history long ago.

Best of luck wherever you land next.

I am amazed! Thailand  is good country.

I don't live in Phuket, Pattaya or Bangkok.

So the blatant racism, dislike or whatever you want to call it is lost on me. I don't see it.

Self Respect, Immigration hoops ETC .....thats just your excuse because Thailand doesn't want you here ....Call yourself what you are ....undesirable!

Or call thailand what it has become, undesireable.

Your girl must be different, my 'hired help' knows exactly how to ask for money in perfect English.

And I know how to answer in perfect Thai that I've already given her enough.

What's said or how it's perceived ? It seems the OP is unhappy at not being able to continue with his current visa arrangements and possibly cannot meet requirements for other long stay alternatives.

Easy to blame the system, but if you are that negative perhaps its better to move on before you get into trouble.????

Who or what denied your ED visa and said we don't want you to stay in Thailand long time?

I tried to survive here from the age of 40 to 50 many years ago. It was not easy but easier than today. Flying in and out of the country all the time and also doing Visa runs. The advantage was that I have seen many countries here in Asia. But I was so happy when I was 50 and could apply for a retirement visa. I have some stamps from Thai embassies in my Passport "Never apply for a visa here again". But at least I got one. But I never knew for sure if they will allow me to enter Thailand again. A very bad feeling.

Another one gone!

Prayut's dream of a Thailand being free of farang expats is slowly coming true.

It won't be long before Thai women will be safe once again from these foreign interlopers. Those lascivious trespassers who, with their western wealth, put temptation in front of our beautiful right-minded and virtuous women.

Hooray, another whinger is away on the boat!!

Btw, you didn't satisfy Immigration- not in the Biblical sense though, so who's in the wrong?

The Elite visa is a rip-off, I would be a sucker to go that way, even I have the money.

I am done jumping through their endless hoops and ripoffs.

If you enjoy that, be my guest.
