Friend went missing in Jungceylon

Featured Replies

Hi, friend went missing in Jungceylon Shopping Mall. Was waiting for him as he said he was going to the bathroom, and after about half hour I went to the loo and shouted for his name he wasn't answering. Tried calling & messaging him to no answer. What should I do? Already reported to Tourist Police but they said official missing is 24 hours. Called up Patong Hospital (he went to the bathroom saying he has a tummy ache) and said his name isn't in the register.

What should I do?

“if you knew the line of work he’s in.” ….hmmmmm (puffing Sherlock pipe)…must be Black Op’s in Patong…I suspected this 60 posts ago, yes, it’s all clear now, Watson, the Colonel's back in town…

well if you messaged him to call you then that's really all you can do for now. Wait until a day or so and see if he gets back to you …. also try and call him again tomorrow. Not sure how good a friend he is or how well you know him …  Maybe he wanted to be alone for a while as he has other plans.

ask mall security to let you view the cctv at the time of him entering the washroom to see the direction he headed (or not) after. If he never left have them do a check..

I'm leaving tomorrow already. He asked me to wait outside as he was going to the loo, and now it's been 2 hours and he's nowhere to be found.

I tried, but they don't speak English to understand my concern. I called up Tourist Police, and they had already asked the Mall to make the announcement, so now waiting if we'll hear anything back.

what was the nature of your relationship ?

He's a close friend of mine

How old is he? Old enough for Alzheimer/dementia?

Any known health conditions?

Won't he find the way to the hotel/residence?

First time in Thailand?

Jungceylon is a bit of a maze with exits to different directions, all looking similar etc.

I myself lost orientation at first visit. Had to "navigate".

Ok, best of luck with your circumstances, but please do not post any personal information on here or any sort of "looking for" type post as its against forum rules.

he's 32. Nope, no dementia. No known health conditions. We're supposed to book a hotel, so he wouldn't be able to know. Nope, not first time, we've been here a lot. I go to Thailand almost every month (I live & work in Malaysia). Sent him Whatsapp text but no double tick, which means his phone is off.

Big chance he's around Phrom Pong station.....in one of those massage parlors.

One night i was with 20 thai boozing in the holland beer bar.....one guy went to toilet and never came back...we called his name a lot in the toilets but no reply....an hour later i went into the toilets again and decided to look under the doors for shoes...one door was a little open so i pushed it open and there he was, totally sick from alcohol....we brought him home while he had a plastic bag hanging from ear to ear, even had to stop for the police alcoholcheck roadblock haha....but he got home fine.

That's what I did, went to the bathrooms and checked for his shoes.

The friend I'm referring to is a dude. He asked me to wait while he went to the loo, then missing.

so you were to book a hotel together and now you still haven't booked as your friend is still missing ?

Well you can say he's no where near the toilet as you've checked already. Did you check other toilets in the Mall incase he went further than you thought to find a clean one or one with toilet paper.

I'd go and have a beer nearby,  see if he calls and you call him again, then later go and book into somewhere yourself then see if he gets in touch by tomorrow morning. Could he have gone with a thai girl for a while ?

Yeah, we were staying in Kamala for two days, and today we had wanted to stay in Patong. I've checked in now at a nearby hotel now. I already checked 4 toilets in the mall. He could've gone, but doesn't explain phone being switched off.

Yes i understand that...i might be wrong but maybe he wanted to get rid of you and go to the massage??

In that case he'll show up after a while.

Or maybe he really got very sick and went to buy medicines or so...or fell down somewhere sick...i have no idea.

Phone switched off means i don't want to be contacted...or empty battery/broken phone....and you know what happens around patong right? With all those girls and lookalikes?

No offense but your ''friend'' has borrowed recently something from you?

(Usualy money but can also be expensive items)
