  • First time I've heard the word Host used in connection with tourists.   Unfortunately the average Thai does not understand the word host and the attitude and behavior it implies.

  • Another day, another enormous banner, another trailing commission and the usual self promotion by the police.  No mention about death or injury awaiting tourists travelling Thailand by road or se

It must be street talk, "hood", short for "neighbourhood".

(Western lingo is creeping into Thailand)

That would explain it. Ganja and prostitutes offered at every corner, and pickpockets, scammers, and corrupt cops always behind your back...

Roads are safe now? great news!

2. "A Thai man called "Best" was arrested for fraud"

3. "A thieving German was arrested in Pattaya."

Seems you are only referred to as "thieving" if you are a foreigner. Should it not read "2. A thieving Thai man called Best was arrested for fraud?"

Yet another BIG JOKE

WHERE DO THEY FIND THEM

but it is a nice gesture

but as so many of us are avoiding Thailand then not so much for them to do

maybe they can round up all the illegal Indians selling fake watches

and the black girls selling sex and the black men

selling drugs

that seem to be invisible to the police

????‍♀️ ????????????????????????

High season isn’t coming because it doesn’t exist anymore.

But there would be an extra high season if they would just legalize , grow and sell quality herb instead of bragging about catching a guy with just a 1/2 kilo.  The country is sitting on a gold mine but will just sit and wait and wait. It’s crazy.

The police are advertising again, but without any facts!
Show that you really know how to do, don't just talk about it, tourists, expat and Thais can't believe you anymore!

Bet they are great hosts in Chiang Mai, the first tourists encounter is a 500+500 baht fine for their license / helmet or color of their t-shirt.
In return they can then drive lawlessly for 2-3 days.

Population average must really have the brain sized a peanut, to still believe this nonsense news.

S.S.D.D. -  Why don't they just do what they have to do, instead of making a song-and-dance about it!

However, at least they're all singing from the same hymn book, which is more than immigration does.

Does that mean all silver vans are now to be driven by tourist police?

Probably in charge of the department giving disguises/hoods to the criminals when they're getting their photos taken with all those men in brown!

Probably not good to boast about how many foreigners you nicked if you want to encourage tourism.

Yet another PR stunt promoting self importance.

These were the cases resolved in the period from October 24th to 30th:

1. Thirteen South Koreans were arrested for running a 30 million baht online sports betting operation.

2. A Thai man called "Best" was arrested for fraud in connection with pool villa bookings. He was an agent who tried to divert people on a booking site to rent his properties. His main source of income was to fraudulently keep security deposits. He made about 300,000 baht from this activity and there were 30 victims.

3. A thieving German was arrested in Pattaya. He found a wallet at Central Marina belonging to a Korean and kept the 700,000 won (17,500 baht) inside it for himself.

4. A Thai woman was arrested for running an illegal tour company called Privilege Cargo and Trading out of premises in Sukhumvit Soi 13 in Bangkok.

5. A dealer called "Chai" was arrested in Patong, Phuket, for supplying ganja to tourists. He was caught with half a kilo of dried, compressed ganja.

6. An Italian man was arrested on 2,531 days overstay. The Italian had entered Thailand on a tourist visa in 2011 and was being investigated for embezzling 2 million baht at a company where he worked. He failed to turn up in court and went into hiding. He is now in the hands of the Bo Phut police on Koh Samui.

I’m not sure that this is a good cross section of crime solving regards assuring tourists that the place is safe

1/ online betting not tourist related... fail

2/ thai defrauding tourists... win

3/ lost property issue.... meh

4/ illegal tour company... was it unsafe?... meh

5/ ganja dealer arrested... fail

6/ overstaying Italian not harming tourists.... fail

if this is the best that the bib can do as examples of providing tourist safety, I have no faith that any change will be seen.

Pol Lt-Gen Chettha Komonwanthana appeared with his minions at the Divalux Resort and Spa Hotel in Lat Krabang to present the results of several top cases showcasing Thailand's determination to present the right image.

So they turn up at the resort to present their spiel, but who are they talking to? I mean how many normal tourists are there, and how would any of the six cases presented reassure any tourist for improvement of safety?

Inspiring confidence in what?
